He is not a bad shooter, he just has a bad shot selection. He will get better.

Jazzfanz: where getting 3rd in ROTY voting (from a 9th overall pick mind you) is considered "miserable".

Kanter has simply done such a **** job growing in the first couple years of his career.

I really think that his 4th year will define him as a player. Who knows. Maybe he needs a scenery change.

In all fairness, he said treys shooting has been poor. That's all he said.

I agree his season wasn't miserable, even though I think he was just saying his shooting was miserable, but lets be real that 3rd in that draft class last year isn't a ringing endorsement.

You know what, I'm a FANTASTIC shooter. I just need to be wide open from 5 ft. Shot selection, form - everything plays into whether or not you're a good shooter. In the end, it still comes down to the fact Trey has still not shown he can hit shots consistently.

I assumed you meant (spot up) jump shooter when you said shooter, especially since it's in regard to how he fits next to Exum. He was ok in catch-and-shoots last season, even coming off a broken index finger on his shooting hand. How he shoots at the rim or pulling up off the dribble is unimportant if he's playing off-ball with Exum.
 
Wish Exum would pump fake some of these 3's and use his speed to get by the guy closing on him to finish strong at the rim.

Someone who can make plays, not just WALK the ball up the court and average 38% shooting. Exum IS raw. But in terms of potential, he's light years ahead of Burke.

This is why there is no need to worry about what to do with Exum and Burke this year. Exum can only handle about 15 mins a night. Play him at backup PG. Work on his shooting mechanics. Let him go against scrubs. If he can fix his shot this year and nothing else, you have created a beast.

Then next year, open the spot up. See who wins the starting PG spot. Then next year, you can look to move one of the two, or move Burke to backup PG. There is no problem this year with Burke and Exum.

Trey Burke was 36.6% FG and 35.2% 3PT in catch-and-shoot situations.

That's a cop out. It was the WEAKEST draft class in YEARS, if not decades. And he was a distant third (96 points vs. 569 for MCW and 364 for Oladipo) Where does he finish in the voting in any other season in recent history? The ROY was on the trading block after the season.
 
JV had everything that Kanter needed.

A good developing season in Europe. A team without a stacked FC, a coach who respected him, gave him enough playing time and used him right, and the luck of not injuring himself in a stupid way.

Don't you think you are too harsh on a point guard that was in his first year on a miserable team with no reliable scorer?

Exactly!
There is no need to worry about a PG competition this year. Nor is there a need to play then together. Let Burke start and play 30 mins, with Exum getting 18. As Dante improves his conditioning and EARNS it, have those mins start to even out later in the season.

Reality is harsh. The point (pun intended) is that Burke was a poor shooter last season. And he showed very little improvement in his second SL. If that was the ONLY concern then I'd hope he'd improve it. But he's also short, plays slow and doesn't get to the rim (which negates the one thing he DOES do well...shoot FT's).

Trey is going to be a solid backup or a starter on a very weak team, nothing more. The sooner all of you realize this, the better. Fortunately, I think the FO already has and had no hesitation drafting Dante.

Exactly what I'm saying. And Enes played two seasons of it.

I'm not complaining much about the last season's playing time. Although Corbin still used him in the worst way possible.
