Jazz players at the World Cup

One thing I notice is about Exum is that he is able to get into the paint, but he refuses to take it up strong. I've counted twice now that he has gotten in the paint with no shot blockers present and refused to go up for a layup. One time he swung it to an open 3 pointer, but still, he doesn't appear to have that offensive mentality yet. He is like the opposite of Burks.

I think a lot of that has to do with his complete inexperience going up against opposing players of that size/strength/speed/caliber, and being a skinny kid. The NBA is even greater competition than the FIBA World Cup (obviously) so I'd imagine we watch that process unfold as well depending on how much tick Quin gives him. I think once he gets his body stronger and is used to playing among and against NBA players, his confidence will soar in making plays at the rim once he gets into the paint instead of just kicking it out. I'm excited to see how Quin grooms him this year in terms of limiting his minutes or leaving him to the wolves.

austraila's coach is following corbin's logic? vets need to play cuz they are vets :D

To be fair based purely on his play, he doesn't deserve to play much more than he is playing. Also, international competitions where the current results are what's important are quite different to a long term development of a team's talent.

Ya. he is not playing well, and they are trying to win not developing players

Funny that i remember seattle jazz fan being skeptical about exum due to not playing against competition, right after we drafted him..... and everyone was flaming sjf saying that exum has been playing in all these big time tournaments against grown men so there is no need to worry and seattle jazz fan is dumb for questioning exum's greatness.

Maybe he knew what he was talking about after all.

Pretty sure everyone was questioning Exum's vs competition. He has never played against grown men, he only played in U18 tourneys.

I wish I could find the thread.

Sjf was worried that exum was not dominating his competition against high school kids.
Then a few people pointed out that he was playing against grown men (I believe hantlers was one of them)

Stop worrying about Exum, remember if he would have gone to Texas he would be a freshman right now. It will be okay.

He doesn't seem overwhelmed to me. Instead he looks tentative and calculated.

I agree with Cy that he just needs to go to the hoop hard a few times and show what he can do. Once he does that I think he'll be much more comfortable with everything.

He's shown he has the talent to play at that level but his mind isn't working the same way.

Brazil vs Serbia is on, Neto is on the bench.
Neto in with 9 to go in the second.
Sweet ball handling skills by Neto and drive to the basket, finished with great reverse layup in traffic.
Neto tries a corner 3, misses.
Great play by Neto again. Drives aggressively inside and dumps it to Taylor, who scores easily the layup.
Neto out with 1 to go.
Halftime. Neto with 8 minutes of play, 2pts(1/2FG, 0/1 3Pt), 1ast, 1rb).
Neto played about 3 more minutes in the second half, but didn't do much and finished with the same statline as above.

Pretty sure he would be a Sophomore this year. He could have gone to college this past year and started when inter-conference competition started.

Turkey defeat Finland 77-73. GOAT Erik Murphy had an impressive game
