My first reaction was not amusement, I assure you.
If you can't laugh at a seriously-self-convinced Mormon intellectual who had read and believed The Origin of Species the first year it came out, and who then formed a creative "fusion of truths" on his own steam incorporating Darwin and the Book of Mormon into one seamless vision, and who invoked the progressive ideals of the 1920s fully 50 years ahead of his time, I might just have to give up on you and leave you just as seriously-self-convinced about your own intellectual bearings. . . . . a fate worse than death, in my estimation.
I don't buy the apologetics some progressives trundle out to meet the criticisms of Margaret Sangers' racism. She was a Eugenicist much like Cecil Rhodes, who believed the dawn of human enlightenment necessarily involved reducing the black and other darker-skinned peoples under European intellectual leadership. David Rockefeller today is a racist of the same stamp. Why to you think nobody really does anything about Africa's diseases, and why do you think the ban on DDT isn't put on the back burner to save millions of lives in the tropics, where whites still don't really live.
Until you are willing to break with the real racism of the "progressive agenda" and blaze your own path forward, you might as well be whistling "Dixie".
