What's new

2014 College Football

They had 2 weeks to figure this out. I didn't see anything new. Booker is not going to be able to be the whole offense all season. If you're going to run every time at least put poole back there with booker.

The problems with this offense for the last three years, begin and end with Dres Anderson. He is awful. He dropped three ball vs UCLA last year. Two led to INT's and the third was at the end of the game on fourth down that would have given Utah a first down. In the OSU game last year, Dres had two balls that he tipped that were INT's. Utah goes bowling last year if Dres can catch the ball.

Against WSU, Dres dropped a TD. If he catches that ball, Utah beats WSU and is undefeated right now. In the fourth quarter, Dres had a ball that would have been a first down hit him in the chest and he dropped. The drive ended.

In this game, Dres dropped two TD passes. 14 points. We ended up with two FG's instead. If he catches one of those passes, we win in regulation. Later, Dres had another pass hit him in the chest, tipped it up in the air, INT for OSU. OSU kicked a FG off that TO. If Dres catches that ball, and drops the two TD's, we win in regulation.

We did not go bowling last year because of Dres Anderson. We are not undefeated right now because of Dres Anderson. If Dres Anderson could catch the ball, this offense looks 100% completely different. If Dres can catch the ball, we are coming off a bowl season last year and are 6-0 right now and ranked #6 in the country. If Dres could catch...If only...

Relegation will never happen for one reason:

Money.

Washington State, Kentucky, Kansas, etc would never vote for relegation.
This

No university president/board of directors is going to vote in favor of unnecessary financial risk for a perceived minor gain in overall entertainment quality. Its something that only fans will wish for. There's no real debate that it wouldn't be awesome, as well as no debate that it would actually happen in the future

I am not going to excuse dres dropping the ball but if 1 RB gets all the yards it's hard to say that the problems are all on 1 receiver.

Booker is a stud all he needs is for there to be the slightest hint of a passing threat and for the plays not be so damn obvious.

While Dres has been brutal and did single handedly cost Utah a win in regulation tonight, it can't be ignored that Utah lacks a forward passing game across the board. Take Dres out of the equation. I don't think it's too much to ask for this offense to be able to hit on at least 50% of some quick hit, 5 and 10 yard patterns and keep a defense somewhat honest.

They better get their **** together because Booker ain't going for 200+ against USC. Don't get me wrong, this win was gritty as hell and I couldn't be more proud but it's gonna take a better passing game for Utah to do anything special. The crazy thing is, Booker, the defense, and special teams are so good, that if this team could just find a way to produce 175-200 yards passing per game, they'd have a chance to win any game left on the schedule.

Totally agree

**** if they had 100-125 passing yards tonight they would have walked away with it.

How different is Utah reality right now if Dres can catch? We beat WSU. We beat OSU in regulation, and probably soundly (we would have been up 17-0 if he could catch the ball). We would be the #6 team in the country right now if Dres could catch the ball.

You want the slightest hint of a passing game? If Dres catches the ball, and we are 6-0, ranked in the top 10, you would have the slightest hint of a passing game.

Our problems are all on the receivers. If they could catch the ball (Scott with two drops early last week, Clay had a drop last week, Dres with multiple drops, etc) we would be a top 10 team.

How much better would Booker look if receivers could catch.

Catch the ball. Pretty simple. Catch the ball. Just catch it.

Quick hitters, huh? Like Scott's two drops last week? Clay's drop over the middle last week? Tonga's drop over the middle tonight? Dres's drop tonight that was tipped and then intercepted? For whatever reason, we can't catch. The plays are there. The play calls are there. Everyone else executes. All of those balls are hitting the receivers in the hands/chest. They aren't catching the ball.

If the receivers catch the ball, especially Dres, we are the #6 team in the country right now.

It's pretty simple. We just need someone to catch the ball.

Heck, I'd even say the problem isn't Wilson or Thompson. If we could catch the ball, we would win with either one back there.

Just catch the ball.

Agreed. These drops have been infuriating. I get that every team has drops now and then. It just seems like we have a lot more than most. It's brutal to watch would be first downs turn into punts because these receivers have butter fingers. Catch the ****ing ball please.

So do the utes go up in the rankings after this game or do they drop

I don't see Utah being punished by voters for going on the road and beating an OSU team that was 4-1 and on the verge of being ranked themselves. Obviously, we have to see who wins/loses ahead of Utah this weekend to see just how far they deserve to move up.

Go Utes!!

We will move up a few spots in the rankings. Maybe as high as #15.
Hey guy, the jazz win too... by over 30pts against the damn Lakers and we are undefeated.

How about posting in the jazz forum somewhere and giving them some love.

I know.

Just reminding ugly that he is was a jazz fan. I'm thinking he may have forgot.

Ute defense is special. Ute offense is....?

Devontae Booker is incredible. The line play was good. The QB's? IMO, the worst in the PAC-12.

Fully believe that^ and think it means Utah has a very special team to be 5-1 (2-1 in conference) despite that. If it were someone better... trophies.
