This season will vindicate Ty Corbin

It wasn't just his lineups (though I had lots of problems with his matchups) ... do you remember the ****ty way the Jazz were playing? No ball movement, no hustle or effort, little running rather slowing it down, throw it inside and stand around and watch ... wtf, GVC, you're supposed to be an astute observer
Where have I disagreed with any of that?

I never understood the mindless "fire Corbin" crap. I liked it when people would give actual reasons as to why they didn't want to have Corbin around.

I didn't like Corbin for this iteration of the Jazz. These are the reasons I did not like him:

1. The team very clearly was suited to play a much faster game, both on offense and defense, and Corbin tried to slow the game down from the point guard on up to the big men. He wanted to use Favors in the post, where he was not suited well, and Hayward would stand on the wings and watch. Its seemed as though Corbin thought he had a system that would work no matter the personnel. That was not the case. He will probably learn to tailor his system to the players in the future, but he did not do that well in Utah.

2. The preferential treatment of veterans. This is a subject that a lot of people on this board took way overboard. It was a problem, but it was overblown. I didn't mind Marvin. I thought RJ should have played less, and I always thought we should invest more of the time in Favors. It was a problem with Corbin, but the young guys developed well considering the circumstances.

3. Lindsay has a plan for the organization, and it was not clear if Corbin agreed with it. In the NBA, it seems as though the whole organization needs to buy in to the plan of the front office to be successful. GM's need their guy as the coach to lead the team they assemble.

A pretty ****ing reasonable post. Not sure I agree with 100% of it, and think Corbin's inability to formulate and teach a consistent, effective defensive scheme (albeit to a young team) deserves a mention, but pretty ****ing reasonable overall.

There is a HUGE difference between what Quin brings to this team compared to Corbin, it's night and day.

Anyone who can't see that is being paid by Corbin to troll on JazzFanz.

Or far more likely....just trolling. No one believes Corbin was a good coach. Lol at those getting sucked in.

The defense is absolutely a huge reason why he was not working out. Good point.

Ty Corbin is one Hayward miracle from vindication.

So you pretty much felt the same as most all of us then

I can't think of a single thing you haven't bitched about since join date: Nov 2010. Prove me wrong?

Don't you know that im the one always pimping alec burks. Not bitching about alec, but praising him. That is my schtick.... PRAISING our young guys.
Im the one going to every scrimmage and then telling everyone how great gobert and Rodney hood look. Im the one that goes to jazz fanz to spend 100 bucks so I can get tickets to the home opening jazz game. I never miss a game and then after losses I talk of how good the team looked anyways and how we will be fine and not to worry. Im the one that puts hot pics of jazz girls for luck.

Usually when Im in an argument with another poster it is because im defending a player on the jazz or the jazz team as a whole. Im the positive jazz fan. Other than when it came to ty corbin. And jazz management took care of that one for me so its all good now.
I hope you feel better soon. Im sure we will lose a game at some point to cheer you up buddy

Nuh-uh.

I don't think it's that unlikely. If the Jazz bomb again this year, it's going to be hard to blame everything on Corbin. Of course there will be those people who will then claim that BOTH coaches suck. My own opinion is that even though I think Corbin is mediocre at best, there is only so much you can do with what you have to work with, and I doubt even Pop could have done much with our roster last year. I'm not ready to defend Corbin to Frank's level, but in theory, I agree with the idea that Corbin has taken more than his fair share of blame of recent problems. Still glad he's gone, though.

I'd like to point out that a good coach can dictate to a degree how well a team does. Just look at the job Sloan did with the post Stockton and Malone team. One of the most talent-less teams ever built, and they ended up with 42 wins and just missing the playoffs. If you ask me, last years team had more talent then that team did, so there goes that theory.

Hey eenie, what needs to be backed up here? Your rep made no sense.

Because it didn't make sense to say that ... this whole thread is bogus. It really is too early to tell, but the indications are, so far, even if we had lost every game, that this team is playing much differently and on the road back to being a contender. I had noticed some other negative posts by you, which I thought dampens the enthusiasm many of us have right now. We shall see, but let's keep upbeat, ok?

Hey Everybody,

Eenie-Meenie wants to stop years worth of crying and become optimistic. He needs you all to play along with him.

Thanks,
The Political Leaders of Utah

And Jerry was also the coach of this team when the wheels came completely off, but I don't believe that proves he was a bad coach. Funny how some people want to give credit when things are good, but when the chips are down, they burry their heads in the sand and chant to themselves "All Deron's fault, all Deron's fault."

Whatever this season is proving so far, it's proving that you have to maintain a polarizing view on Tyrone Corbin.

"We've made big improvements, most of which is internal growth of players, but Ty was bad for player development so all praise goes to Q."

"We're this year's Phoenix ya bish, cuz we risin' from teh ashes (of Corbin!)!"

"Burks!"

I'm not sure i'd call a record of 31W/23L (.575 --> 47 wins full season) "wheels coming off"....
