Following potential 2015 draftees

Towns is such a weird ****ing player. There is no comp for him. Maybe a Kanter/Gasol combo.

I'm not convinced Towns will ever be a solid defender in the NBA. Unfortunately, it's impossible to determine at the collegiate level because he's so humongous. Impo, he looks like he'll be able to defend post ups quite well, but will be slow defending the pnr and soft at the rim. Even if all that turns out to be the case, he still shows the potential of eventually being able to shoot from anywhere, make proper passes, and post up mother****ers.

Towns is indeed a ****ing weird player.

Ok so Johnson is pretty much a sure thing... if nothing else he can always hang his hats on his defensive intensity right?

I would say his ceiling is a more aggressive Kawhi????? I mean let's be honest that's legit.

Completely disagree.

Also, I think the most valuable players are the most valuable. Size is an attribute that is a factor in computing overall value, but it's not the only one.

Obligatory sexual innuendo

Partly disagree.

Yep, size is an attribute that is a factor in computing overall value, but it's not the only one. I agree on that part. But I didn't mean anything opposing to that anyway.

But no, being a big is still a tremendous value in my opinion when you don't consider the other things. I say Exum would go 4th or 3rd on natural conditions, meaning disregarding the particular needs of drafting teams. At least, I think that way. I would definitely not draft Exum first in this draft if the needs of my team were equal in the guards and big men rotations of my team.

And don't overlook maybe the most important part of my previous post. "Especially without the hindsight". I wasn't even as much hyped as I am right now about Exum before the draft. Maybe you knew him better than me though, so I can't speak for you.

Friday UK plays Texas. Will be a great opportunity to see future pros vs. future pros.

Could be an awful game to watch, though, considering UK is #1 in the nation in defense holding opponents to 27.9% and Texas is #2 holding opponents to 29.8%

The game could wind up having a final score resembling hockey.

I guess a Handball game would be more accurate ;)

If I'm honest I'm probably most concerned with his athleticism. He doesn't seems to have Okafor's size and post game, meaning he'll have to rely on his athleticism and explosiveness to succeed in the next level? Does he have THAT?

Towns is pretty skilled. That's the upside teams will be betting on. Developing versatility.

When I think Stanley Johnson I think of Ron Artest just because of his physical size and strength. Didn't Artest weigh 260 at his playing weight as a SF? Johnson is around 240 as a Freshman. Basically my only reason for comparing him to Artest.

A young Ron Artest is the best comparison I've seen. Very strong body, explosive considering his weight. Streaky from outside. Plays defense with an edge. Also my best candidate for a player who might require lobotomy to become a winner(Candidate for the Dion Waiters award)

That Kaminsky character is a bit more skilled than Kelly Olynyk, but I don't think I he'll impact the game much more. Not high on him right now.

Not just about how much he'll impact the game, but how he helps create space and mismatches for others to win games.

He's elite strength and post moves. Limited by pedestrian athleticism. That's it. We don't likely need worry, though.. he'll be gone by our pick.

Dunno why everybody is afraid to say str8 up: Al Jefferson with a huge prayer he might become interested in playing defense and passing and develop more in Duncan's direction. But I guess Jefferson burned too many bridges in Utah ;)

I think he grew 4" from 9th to 10th grade, 3" from 10th to 11th, and another 2.5" by start of college.

That's a lot of growing.. but not sure how it may have impacted him. No opinion there.

So basically he was a guard until he was 16? Didn't Davis show a similar growth spurt? I guess not everybody is not a natural talent when it comes to motion and body coordination to preserve the mobility of a guard.

I actually used Al Jeff in my comps for Okafor.. so not skeered bru.

Why are u suggesting Johnson doesn't play hard.. or did I misunderstand?

No I wanted to laud his defense. Plays defense with an edge afaik means he takes pride in it.

But what I've seen is ball hogging, questionable shot selection, missing teammates who are better positioned. That's why I said lobotomy.
But maybe his iso skills will be enough so he won't have to readjust his game(Prolly not)
Also this is very limited footage I have seen, so I have been shy to say my own opinion other than referring opinions of people who I think are smart.

Good read. Thanks! Hezonja's role it seems will be similar to Gordon Hayward's, a do-it-all wing with a 2-way game. Hezonja is actually quicker and more physically gifted than Hayward, but Hayward is a uniquely cerebral player. By that I mean Hayward can dominate a game with his decision-making and IQ, making the right play at the right time. I'm not sure if Hezonja is mentally that strong. If he is, he's clearly an All Star.

I'm trying to get excited about Chris McCullough. He has a lot of talent and ideal measurables for an up-and-coming PF. He'd give the Jazz something they don't have right now.

McCollough is getting big-time minutes as a freshman at Syracuse. He's averaging 15 points and 9 boards on 60% shooting with 2.3 blocks and 1.7 steals per game. He's a lean, athletic 6'10" / 220-lb PF who runs the floor well and finishes above the rim pretty easily. His fouls and turnovers are under control considering his heavy minutes. On talent alone, you'd have to think he's a top-10 pick if he comes out this year.

Tonight I heard Bilas say that NBA scouts are saying Justise Winslow is James Harden but with defense.

I have to admit I haven't watched much of him yet. Could that comp (yes, I know one love, you HATE comps) be even remotely accurate?

Terrible. I like Winslow.. but it's more like defense instead of offense.. not both.
