Watching the Warriors and Thunder go at it, it's apparent to me how the game has changed, with teams relying on spacing, quick ball movement, outside shooting and slashing. If we're comparing Winslow, Johnson and Hezonja, I'd pick the one who's quickest, best off the dribble, shoots best and has the most versatility. I think that's probably Hezonja.

I agree that Porzingis also looks like he can be a real force in the league. The question with him is what he's going to do when a defender crowds him and gets right in his face. Can he put the ball on the floor and make a play off the dribble? If he can, he could be awesome.

Good post. One thing you have missed though. Porzingis already has the ability to put it on the floor.

Interesting that UK is suddenly recruiting Georgios Papagiannis. As I understand it, he is about to sign for a team in Athens and we have reached out and asked him to hold off a few minutes while we talk. Also, he is not considered an "a" priority for UK at the moment, but we want to take a quick look. He is stalling his commitment to the Greek team.

Strange.. it saids here that he'd agreed to go sign with the Greek team in June.

A top-50 prospect came off the board on Wednesday -- but it wasn't a commitment to a college.

Georgios Papagiannis has agreed to terms with Greek club team Panathinaikos.

In a statement, Papagiannis said (the translation is a bit rough around the edges):

"I want to thank the president of Panathinaikos main Dimitris Giannakopoulos, because he believed me and wanted to bring me to the group. I thank him, because I too wish to become a member of Panathinaikos.

"I also wish to thank Mr. Argyris Pedoulakis who believed me since I was 14 years old and told me that the best way to proceed was to sign Panathinaikos. It helped me a lot to get my decision.

"Of course, I thank my family, my parents, Kanellos and Mary and my brother, Minas and support all these years and is valuable for me."

According to Euro Hoops, he has the option to return to the States next summer.

Papagiannis, a 7-foot-1 center who played Westtown School (Pa.), is ranked No. 38 in the 247Sports Composite for the class of 2015. He had already taken unofficial visits to Maryland and Penn State.

He averaged 8.1 points and 6.1 rebounds on the EYBL circuit with Team Takeover this spring.

He has some athletic plays that rival Wiggins and Aaron Gordon in college. Hezonja has real star potential. I have to believe he's high on the Jazz's board, especially if Kanter and Gobert keep showing improvement.

Picture a team with Exum, Hezonja and Hayward, where Hayward is the least athletic of the three. All of them can initiate offense, make shots, get to the rim and use their length and quickness to defend multiple positions.

I think Hezonja is going to be better offensively than Paul George. He's got a better handle and quicker reactions.

I've been a huge fan of his since last year's draft. At this point, I'm concerned that the Jazz will win too many games to get him without pulling off a trade to make it work.

Let's say that they could pull it off and nab him. . . Gobert/Favors, Favors/Kanter, Hayward/Hezonja/Ingles, Burks/Hezonja/Hood, Exum/Burke/Neto. I love the length of that team and the versatility for creating matchup issues in the starting lineup and off the bench.

And Ingles is the oldest player with the rest of the key guys all 25 or younger. Damn.
 
Nice to see I revived the pro-Hezonja sentiments on the board. He isn't a shooter though. People on the board need to get that right. He is an athletic scorer, much likes Burks. Potentially he is the best of a mixture of Burks/Hayward.

Yep, I was getting down on him due to several scouting reports trashing him for his defensive discipline and will to play defense. Then I decided to watch some full games of his and even though I can see in certain situations what they are talking about, I think it is way overblown and is very fixable issue.

I like this comparison, but I will amend it slightly. When I watch him play, I see a lot of the physical attributes that make Hayward special, but I think he has a similar mentality as Kobe Bryant. He just has that "take no prisoners" desire to score. And you're right. He's not a shooter. But he looks like he could be coached to be much better in that area. I like his form and his confidence. He absolutely has to speed up his release and he needs to learn to make better decisions. I think working with a coach like Snyder would do wonders for him.
