Both are very, very, low.
I handle guns almost daily. My dad has done the same for years. Same with many family members. Same with many of our employees. Not once have any of us had a gun accidentally go off. It's pretty easy to avoid.
1) never, ever keep a loaded gun in the house or vehicle.
2) never, ever repair a gun or clean a gun if it's loaded.
3) always, always check if a gun is loaded before handling it.
I have a gun below my bed for safety. I keep a loaded clip near it, but never in it. My wife knows where it is, and how to use it. When people come over (especially kids), I move it somewhere nobody can find it and put the ammo in a separate place. Taking away guns because of stupid people is ludicrous. We should promote education.
Funny how people wouldnt promote abstinence, but instead said we needed more education. Same thing applies here.
