Following potential 2015 draftees

How far would moving Kanter or Burke or Kanter + Burke move us up in the draft? Could we get a top two pick from number 9?

PKM, what are your thoughts on Russell? Would he be worth moving some combination of Kanter, Burke, and our pick for?

We can't trade kanter before the draft because he's a RFA. I don't think Trey would get you from 9 to 2. If he plays a little better and LA has the 5th pick Burke may entice them. They'd have to have someone they liked a lot in the 9-12 range though.

A. ) Can't trade Kanter after the deadline, but before the draft. So the Jazz would have to guessing who'd get a top 2 pick and convince them to leave the pick unprotected. Not going to happen.

B.) Even if you could trade Kanter prior to the draft, Kanter and Burke won't be enough to move up from wherever we end up. It's going to cost more.

C.) I'm perfectly fine with throwing a ton of assets into getting up into the top 3 picks if possible, but our other assets of value won't tip the scales, or shouldn't be used.

In the words of Phil Johnson "The draft is a crap shoot anyway".

Unless there is a sure-fire-can't-miss talent, I don't think we should be moving up. We've learnt this lesson the hard way with Burke.

If a team likes Kanter and likes all the players from 5 - 10 in the draft, then Kanter + the 10th pick *might* get you up to the 5th pick.

I don't think it gets you in the top 2, no. That would require giving up Exum or Hayward to a team that flat-out loves those guys.

By all accounts this draft is pretty solidly even between 4-10, am I correct in assuming that?

I think we should stand pat and trust that Dennis/KOC/Sloan would pluck out another Gobert/Exum for us.

Maybe 1-8, not sure who's there at 8-10.

I guess it depends on how you feel about Oubre, Looney and Booker.

Okafor
Towns
Mudiay
Russell
Porzingis
Johnson

...are all strong

Cauley-Stein
Hezonja

...are nearly as good and have significant upside. That's 8.

Oubre
Looney
Booker

These guys *should* round out the top 10, unless someone really wants Winslow or Turner.

Oubre might be a modest upgrade over Hood. Might be.
Booker is a shooter we could definitely use.

I don't know that much about Looney. I like Lyles just as much, tbh.

Winslow, Turner and Oubre deserves to be in top 10, IMO. Wasn't Klay taken at #11? Then Booker deserves to be at #11 also. A quick peek at DX and they had Hezonja at #10. I mean he could have easily gone top #3 in the 2013 draft.

It's very likely that one of these guys on the bubble would break out and become a star. It's just a matter of choosing the right one. I am confident that the brain thrust of Lindsey / KOC / Sloan would come through for us and pick us a gem.

I guess we could do Kanter + Burke for Henderson + a protected 1st rounder from Charlotte - top 3 protected, maybe? Not sure if it`s worth it, but we`d end up with our own pick + theirs, that would likely be somewhere between 10 and 15 this year.

Russell doesn't have the same body type as Mullin. I'd say Hayward is more similar to Mullin.
Dat skin color body type doe
