Jazz At Trailblazers - 8 PM Mountain Time, Root Sports

So who should take shots then? Should we just give Hayward the ball all the time and let him take the shots (like last year when his % where awful)?

Burke takes bad shots so other players don't have to. We just don't have any shot creator outside of Hayward other than Burke on the team. So if Hayward isn't creating offense or taking a shot, it kind of has to be Burke. Hayward doesn't want/can't do all the work 100% of the time.

Does Burke bring some of these bad shots on himself? Yeah, but it's not all his fault. The team makeup partially forces a lot of these shots on him.

That makes sense. Let's have our PG (ball distributor) not distribute the ball. Thank you Trey, for taking bad shots, because evidently if you don't, someone else has to.

Problem is...Dante was the PG when the Blazers started off the game strong and then in the 3rd when they erased a 3 pt lead and went up by 11. Sure Trey had some bad shots. But Dante was giving Utah NOTHING. Even when Dante, with his supposedly elite speed, had a breakaway layup he got run down and stopped. Exum had some decent defensive plays, but not enough to justify his playing time.

I'll be honest, with Hayward, Burks and even Ingles running the offense, the Jazz need less of a PG than just a scorer. The type of player who would be perfect in this offense (and it pains me to say this because I hate the guy) is a Derek Fisher in his prime.

Trey runs the team better than Dante right now. Even with his poor vision/forcing.
Yes. I was just going to post that the 1st/3rd quarter performances weren't necessarily Dante's fault. LA was on fire in the first and the Jazz had TO's and missed shots in the 3rd. But part of the problem is Utah is playing 3-on-5 on offense when Dante is in the game; neither he nor Ingles are a threat to score. And that also means Utah really can't play Gobert in that package. Then Utah just has Favors and Hayward as scorers.

Something to like about Quin...when the other team makes a run he stops play (timeout, whatever) to get his guys to regroup. With Quin typically if we see a minor point swing, like 8-12 pts, he stops play to help get his guys back on track (say up 4 then going down by 4-6 or so). It used to frost my tips to no end when Sloan would allow a 10 pt lead to turn into a 12 pt deficit (not uncommon to see 20 pt swings like this with him) before trying to halt play.

And Quin also started off the 2nd half with Gobert on Aldridge. Rudy shut him down. WE didn't have enough offense to make it work with Rudy, Jingles and Dante on the court together, but at least Quin was willing to try something different.

The two times I really appreciated Quin as a coach (vs. Corbin or even Sloan) was in the 1st when he took Kanter aside and after he pulled Millsap after his quick, ill-advised 3. Both times QS spent time talking to each player. Snyder is definitely a player development guy.

I think we also need to remember that our backcourt has been devastated by injury and Rose Garden (I'll never call it Moda) is one of the toughest venues to play in. We battled and almost took down a playoff team that went to the 2nd round last year.

Once again, for a team that has a sucky record, we sure are battling like hell. Which is awesome.
Get Quin some talent and this team is going to be off the charts.

Foul trouble is what ****ed us in the 3rd.

Hayward, favors, booker, millsap, and kanter are all unafraid to shoot....... if they can get the ball

Gordon Hayward forcing up bricks? As in the guy that shot 10 for 16, and 3 of 4 from the perimeter? Also, I don't want to hear **** about his defense... Ever. Dude may not be elite on defense, but he sure as hell never stops playing.
He was saying that Hayward could not get the ball because trey was forcing up bricks

Still amazes me that this team with glaring weaknesses can come so close to beating one of the top teams in the league on the road. Gotta be the worst front court in the league right now: two rooks, a chucker, and NBADL guy? What could we be doing with Burks and Hood available????

Rodney Hood is missed so much. This guy is much better that his 31% FG shows and if I know a thing or two about young players and their potential, I tell you, we'll all witness his rise after the all-star break. Some of you guys won't believe your eyes then but yes, he is that good.

Front court our the Forwards and Centers.

Back court are the guards and wings.

Our back court sucks, outside of Hayward.

They came close last night but they did beat the #2 in the west on the road. The play again tonight. Game on Grizzlies. Jazz have beat 7 playoff teams. And almost beat 2-4 others. Specifically the Clippers and Blazers.

The teams the Jazz are beating only adds to the amazingness of this season.

GO JAZZ!!

I'm not sure Rodney Hood is the world beater everyone is proclaiming. He was a No. 1 pick at the 23rd sport. Elliot Williams was a No. pick at the 22 spot. I believe Morris Almond was drafted in the first round somewhere around here.

Never mentioned Hood in this post. Also Gobert was drafted 27th. What's your point?
