My unhealthy love for Brice Sensibaugh…

Is it because the Jazz desperately need more defensively challenged scorers in their starting five?

It wasn't the Jazz - the Heat was so bad and deflated tonight that they would have lost to any NBA team. On the other hand the Jazz are now 5-4 against the East ... and 5 out of the next 6 games are against Eastern conference teams.

    Following Potential 2025 Draftees

Rare, but it's happened before. The issue is not so much about his minutes - the Rockets worked hard to consistently find 10-12 minutes per game for him - he simply gives absolutely nothing in these minutes: no points, no assists, no rebounds, no defense. Other struggling rookies at least show...

Is it though? So far Sheppard is averaging 3 PPG, 1 APG on the 32% - 28% shooting. He was a guard drafted in the top 3: none of the guards drafted top 3 had such a poor start to their career as he did. Except, maybe for Fultz, but even Fultz posted better stats. Unless Sheppard dramatically...

    Following Potential 2025 Draftees

So, what would cause Kasparas to have a different trajectory than Reed Sheppard, who was hyped up, drafted high and promptly shrunk in the NBA? And Sheppard is not alone: there were many moderately athletic college/international PGs who were drafted in the lottery and then underperformed...

Keyonte is the only (semi) real thing that the Jazz got out of 2 years of tanking. If he is already being penciled as a temporary placeholder to be soon upgraded/traded... then it's just sad.

    2024-2025 Tank Race

I was looking forward to it too. The Wizards played much better later because Sarr and Poole have really, really improved. Sarr will likely end up being ROY if he maintains his recent level of play throughout the season. They also shoved all of their good vets to the bench (Valanciunas...

That is very much true. I think that many start to cool off on Demin, while Fland and Traore need a lot going for them to become something better than a backup PG.

Thank you, it is a good and useful description. I think that Kasparas is the best of them too and that the defensive concerns can be mitigated somewhat by his size. I think that he has the lowest chance of turning to be a bust and the way he moves in the paint reminds me of Manu. Traore, Demin...

    Following Potential 2025 Draftees

I am not following the prospects nearly as closely as many posters on the board and was surprised to see that previously unfamiliar to me Fears is now rated so high. I looked up the highlights and was really, really impressed. Now, there seem to be so many good point guards prospects that if the...

Minny & Cavs 2025 picks watch thread

What value does a tiny, defensively compromised SG have? The 6'0" barefoot SG who makes almost 20 million? There are no other players like him in the NBA and for a good reason.

What is going on with Collier?

And that makes the fact that Keyonte is much better than Collier at setting up his teammates and reading the situations especially disappointing.

What is going on with Collier?

One of the things that annoys me about Collier is his frequent probing dribbling inside. He is not Steve Nash: his dribbling is slow and prone to turnovers, he is no threat to explode to the rim or pull up for a jump shot. He usually ends it by passing it back to someone on the perimeter who is...

What is going on with Collier?

He reads the situations well?! Collier has one of the highest turnover rates for all NBA players: the only players turning the ball more than him are several clumsy bigs. He constantly misreads the situations and makes wrong passes that nobody can catch.

Must-watch games in a dumpster fire season?

The last years of the Gobert-Mitchell era were rather boring and predictable: the same vets (no growth), the same coach and plays, and the same inevitable results. Now you can see so many young players growing or struggling in front of our eyes, the young coach trying different strategies, the...

    2024-2025 Tank Race

Is it a surprise, though? Teams like Washington and Brooklyn have been shedding their good players to make sure they are terrible. And Ainge instead held on his good vets, resigned Markkanen and added Eubanks and Svi. He has done everything in his power to make tanking as difficult as possible.

"Other guys" collectively hold Jokic to 56%-49% shooting splits this season. Yesterday against Kessler and the Jazz Jokic was 42% - 33%.

Brice, Svi and Juzang - the last man standing

It's not so much about the total number of wings (although, even there the Jazz now have too many right at 7). Its more about having a variety of wings. Brice, Svi and Juzang are all non-passing and not great on defense but can really shoot threes. You don't need three of them off the bench.

Brice, Svi and Juzang - the last man standing

In the first two years Juzang will be payed about 300K more than Brice per year: it's a wash. But, if Brice is still on the Jazz in 27-28 he will not be making much less than the QO ( quite likely, it would be more). Nobody would sign the extension that pays considerably less than the...

Brice, Svi and Juzang - the last man standing

I think that Micah Potter can (mostly) replace Eubanks for way less money.
