    Boozer to Orlando?

The point was made with players on teams who would probably not be able to match due to their payrolls already being high. Similar to what we did with Okur.

    Boozer to Orlando?

I would probably be ok with Boozer for Gortat, Anderson and TPE. The idea being tossed around with having future cap space is going after teams' RFA. Horford and Gasol are two major ones.

    Boozer to Orlando?

So, what is wrong with this BASIC idea of keeping cap space until the new CBA? I could care less that the idea came from 1280, but I do think the idea deserves some discussion. Almost everyone on this board is talking about having to make big, cap-clogging moves this summer. I think there is...

    Boozer KFAN rumor

Before re-signing Matthews and Fes, the Jazz have about $60M committed in salary. Adding Gortat and Anderson brings that up to about $67.7M for 10 players. Bringing back Fes, Matthews and one more player (back-up PG) would probably put the Jazz about $4M over the tax. Is that team worth it? I...

    Boozer KFAN rumor

John Hollinger: Interestingly, Boozer attended Game 2 of the Eastern conference finals last year and was talking to Dwight Howard during stoppages in play. I imagine Jazz would want Gortat, Anderson and the trade exception from the Turkoglu deal. from espn live chat today

    Boozer to Orlando?

Did anyone else hear the discussion on 1280 the other day? The argument was basically that the Jazz are likely better off not taking back significant contracts (if any) for Boozer as well as not re-signing Korver and letting AK's deal expire next year. They would have lots of young talent and...

    Boozer KFAN rumor

Gortat is unproven and his contract could be horrendous with the new CBA. Given that trading AK and bringing back less salary is not a given, I don't see how this team, with the additions of Gortat and Redick/Pietrus/Anderson is worth paying the tax for.

    Off season

I still think that the Jazz are being extremely mindful of the next CBA and will not add significant long term salary unless it gets them an All-Star or border line All-Star (at slightly less money) a la the Gasol trade. Barring a trade like this, I think the best course of action for this...

You are Kevin O'Connor. How do you get a center?

It has to be a veteran, not somebody that has only been in the league a few years. Unless we want to see more assets traded to stay under the tax, I think that this center can't make more than about 6 million/year.

One Step Back, Two Steps Forward

I think the Jazz have two options with this upcoming off-season/season: 1) Stay right around the tax threshold by not making any major moves. To me, this means letting Boozer walk, maybe re-signing Korver and bringing back Matthews and Fes. A couple more roster spots need to be added and...

    Chris Duhon?

I would have much rather seen the Jazz draft Randle in the 2nd round and brought him in to challenge for the backup spot.

You are Kevin O'Connor. How do you get a center?

I imagine KOC is looking into a S&T with Boozer (still like something along the lines of getting Dampier and Beaubois from Dallas) or using Harpring's TPE (e.g. Gortat or Foster). What about using part of the MLE for J. O'Neal?

    Official Draft Thread

I am all for this. Not sure Posey is the best we can do with the TPE, but for #11 it is probably worth it. Looking at two of the following: Monroe (really hoping he falls), Babbitt, Henry, Aldrich, Davis, Hayward and George. I think that would set up the Jazz future pretty good. Posey isn't what...

Jazz looking for another 1st round pick in the 20's.

I am not sure on the salary cap rules, but if Miami wanted to dump Beasley to get under the cap even more before July 1st, I would think that they could only trade with teams under the cap this last year or teams with a large enough TPE. That leaves, Utah, Orlando and Washington. Even if we did...

Jazz looking for another 1st round pick in the 20's.

Aside from trading Harpring's TPE for Beasley and Miami's 1st, I would rather the Jazz make some moves in the 2nd round to end up with Randle and Pittman (Shved would be ok, too) than try to trade into the 20's.

    Memphis/Minn Set to Swap Pick...

Exactly what I was thinking. Only I don't think it is necessary to include the Memphis pick. The heat want to sell the pick and would love to clear Beasley's contract.

    Small trade idea

Why not just go one step further and flip that #25 pick into picks in the first round? Either sell the #25 pick for $3mil and then buy 2 2nd round picks (numbers are from recent espn articles) for $1.5mil each or just trade the #25 for something like Milwaukee's 2 2nd's. I think that there is...

    Hard Salary Cap?

I guess I had the NFL model in mind when I was thinking hard cap. Draft well, don't overpay for free agents and you can build a winner. I just thought the Jazz could be very successful with the hard cap in place given their relatively good drafting and mostly not overpaying for free agents. Just...

    Hard Salary Cap?

What if the Jazz are waiting/hoping for a hard salary cap with the new CBA? Many around here, including myself, would love to see some bold moves by the Jazz FO. However, ideas being thrown around like trading for Brand or Maggette add long term salary as do almost all sign and trades for...
