He should have played some solid 2nd half minutes against the Clippers when Gobert went down. He could have been a difference-maker even just on offense-defense substitutions in crunch time.
If that is the case... aren't the Jazz better off just waiving Trey themselves. He is on a team option, so they could just not pick up his option.
I think he will be packaged with Favors, Burks, or Hayward.
No offense to Shelvin Mack as I think he is quite good and should be on the Jazz and playing minutes. I don't agree with Shelvin and Neto getting all the PG minutes. I did not like QS' bench rotations. Especially with Alec Burks out, Trey Burke was only bench player capable of being an offensive...
He is a GREAT 2nd player on a team and hopefully Exum or someone else becomes the Jazz superstar. Hayward is a great Robin. I think last night showed that he is not at the caliber of even a retiring Kobe in crunch time. The last 90 seconds, Kobe was old Kobe and Hayward was too human.
If Jazz miss playoffs, they should be embarrassed by this season. They should have been a 5-6 seed in the West. Portland and Memphis had amazing seasons in spite of losing players and injuries. Those teams are examples of excellence on and off floor. Jazz season is borderline disgraceful.
That is interesting as Kanter has fully accepted a role as a bench guy for OKC. Utah partially traded Kanter because Gobert was the starter. But what if they kept Kanter and still started Gobert? Utah would have best of both worlds and Utah would probably be a 5 seed. Kanter would probably...
Whithey should have played in the second half last night some real minutes with Gobert going down and Favors hobbled. When Gobert was out for a stretch, Whithey filled in admirably and he could have clogged the lane last night some.
Maybe because I am a Michigan guy, I am a Burke supporter...
Favors. I think the Jazz should seriously look at packaging Favors and Burke and see who is available. They should also seriously consider a play for Al Horford. He would play well with current Gobert and Hayward.
Free agents ideas for Utah
Kevin Durant - A nice dream
Mike Conley - Throw the bank at him. Will he leave Memphis? Exum is still a mystery
Ryan Anderson - The Ultimate stretch 4; Will have lots of bidders
Joakim Noah - no longer starter, but could be a great vet presence and vocal leader...
For the Jazz, the playoffs is now. They need to treat these last 5 games as their playoff series. The Jazz need to win 4 games to securely get in. If they actually win a single playoff game against the Spurs or Warriors it is just icing on the cake. Jazz playoffs is right now!
