Aaron Gordon to Utah Jazz - Chad Ford

I hear what you're saying because in every draft the guys just above where the Jazz are picking look SO much better. That was already the case and with Embiid slipping it got worse. HOWEVER... I take some comfort in Chad Ford's tier system, at least to the extent that he and the GMs he surveyed...

Aaron Gordon to Utah Jazz - Chad Ford

My first reaction was that he was just basing it on Gordon having a second workout with the Jazz, but it sounds like he actually has some inside knowledge ("team is convinced that he could have an Andrei Kirilenko-like effect on the team"). Either that or he made it up.

Aaron Gordon was in SLC today....

Same type of talk from the Locke/Pelton podcast last week.

    Wildcard at #5

Not my pick, but Kevin Pelton has Clint Capela listed as his #2 player statistically even though Capela is projected in the late teens, early twenties. THAT would be a WTF pick. Post Embiid injury I figure it will come down to this: Most likely off the board - Wiggins, Parker, Exum, Vonleh Jazz...

Offer to Cavs for #1 is to draft Wiggins not Parker

Exactly. I have no doubt that Spence Checketts could have a source in the business. However I DO doubt that (1) any source is necessarily telling the truth (or even knows the truth) at this time of year, and (2) the Jazz would tell Cleveland who they were targeting with the pick.

    Draft Party Attendees.

Unfortunately I'm in SLC this week, not next week. On second thought I should have planned ahead and considered flying to NYC to go to the actual draft with my brother.

    Jeremy Lin?

I agree. Lin can play and his deal isn't THAT big (like Jefferson + Biedrins + Rush big), but the Jazz would still deserve more compensation. While they would get another first, effectively it's only moving up 10 spots (because they'd give up the #35).

    Ante tomic coming next season.

You probably got the gist of it above, but here's more of an actual translation: Los Utah Jazz están meditando pagar la cláusula de Ante Tomic, al cual draftearon en 2008, para que milite en sus filas la próxima temporada. "The future of Ante Tomic could lie far from Palau Blaugrana. The Utah...

Who does Quin Snyder look more like?

Kind of seemed that was the end result. I had the Matthew McConaughey thought during the press conference though. I thought he looked a lot like him in the face.

    Duncan > Malone?

The Bird Celtics and Showtime Lakers didn't keep the Jazz from winning championships. The Jazz just weren't contenders yet when those teams were still good. The teams that kept the Jazz from advancing to or winning the finals were the Blazers ('92), Rockets ('94 & '95, although that was in the...

    Dante Exum Article on Hoopshype

"Literally" was not the only problem with that sentence, but yes, I had the same thought.

Why do the Jazz spend so much money/time on International scouting?

No time to read everything, but here's my take. With only two picks per year (usually), the Jazz haven't drafted a significant number of players from any one source, be it a single college conference or Europe. Scouting is about gathering information and being prepared to make the best...

    Whatever happened to old posters?

Keri was (is?) a Jazz dancer. Nerd liked her but it never went any farther than speaking a few times. Here's a link from her sister's blog with a picture in all of her Jazz dancer glory: https://www.loveandphotographs.com/2011/03/family-home-tour-keri-holland.html Butler or Crescent View?

    Whatever happened to old posters?

Nerd is very active on Twitter, blogs at Salt City Hoops, and pretty much never comes by JazzFanz. He is also getting married this summer, so in Keri's mind Nerd will always be "the one that got away." Or something like that. IDK about anyone else.

Why would "Jockularity" be a sex advice podcast? You do know what a jock is, right?

Jazz spin on league news items

The Hayward cap hold is from Sham Sports, not my own number, but now that I look I think it's right. According to Larry Coon (at https://www.cbafaq.com/salarycap.htm#Q38) Hayward's cap hold should be 250% of his previous salary, or $8.630 million. My version of the above goes like this...

Jazz spin on league news items

Broncster already covered this, but here are some more specifics. Until they renounce rights or the players sign elsewhere, they count as cap holds at these amounts: Jefferson $16.569 million Williams $11.25 million Hayward $8.630 million Rush $7.6 million So when do they renounce each guy...

Jazz spin on league news items

A couple of league-wide news items caught my eye today: --Salary cap expected to rise $5 million. Jazz only have 6 players and $27 million committed, so they could have be much as $36 million under the cap. Of course cap holds will cut into that number, but it's still a lot of room to work...

New Orleans Pelicans @ Utah Jazz

If you're going to pray for the outcome of the draft, pray for the following in this order: 1. The #1 pick 2. The #2 pick 3. The #3 pick 4. THEN worry about people trickling down to the Jazz

    1983-84 Team

Stop it, I'm blushing. As I read my own comment about how the 45-win Jazz weren't that great just because they won the division, they were still the team that won me over. If I ever finish my book you can read all about the season from my perspective, but at the time it felt like every single...
