What's new

1-11

At this point I am ready to move on from Trey. Maybe I am jumping the gun but I find it increasingly hard to get behind him. Trade him and a bunch of assets for some one if we don't land the right free agent. Promote Cotton

Exum/Cotton for president 2015-16

whether it's Burks or Hood as the SG on the 2nd unit, I think Cotton is a better fit. Shooting percentage isn't much better but he looks to pass; Trey doesnt

I am very dubious that Trey will ever become a much better shooter. Guys who do that come in with really poor form and improve it over the years. I think Trey's biggest issue is that it is just harder for him to shoot than most guys: being slow and short means he always has contested shots, or more than usual. He has to work really hard to get a shot off, and too often the degree of difficulty is too high. That, and he has to be one of the worst fast break point guards in the league. I would take Cotton over him right now.

I was totally rooting for Trey, still would probably, but Cotton's appearance is the first time I would consider an Exum-Cotton rotation on PG. Wish the season had more time to go so that we can see how much consistency Bryce would bring to this.

Bryce's last 4 games were pretty impressive.

The voice of bias here, but I know what I've seen of Cotton has not surprised me at all. It's all familiar, he's brought it to this level. Only surprise to me was they he did get the chance he needed to do his thing. Snyder said "you get excited about his potential". I saw him average 41 minutes a game in his senior year, due to OT games, he never came out, he had few off games. It is a different level of game, of course, there's the rub in small sample sizes, but all I know is what you've seen the last 4 games is what I saw for 30 plus games in his senior year. And he just kept getting better, peaking in the NCAA NC game. One off note in those 4 games is 3 point shooting. He's better then that.

What surprised me the most about Cotton is how much faster and quicker he is than Trey. We get lulled asleep watching Trey game after game, but when someone really has quickness and is fast, it makes you realize that Trey is always going to be a liability on defense. Trey does have a unique skill in that he can get his shot off all the time...he just can't make it all the time.

I see Cotton and Trey as kind of haphazard in their approach to the game. They make the game look hard. By comparison Dante makes the game look easy. Maybe it's because Trey and Cotton try to do too much while Dante tries to do too little. Somehow their games seem similar while Dante seems like he has a game that as it evolves will be very suited to complimenting those around him. Given a choice between Cotton and Trey though I would take Cotton. Trey is the only player in a long time that I find myself yelling at the TV because he doesn't know when to quit shooting and pass the ball.

I think its sad how Exum gets a free pass, and Burke gets **** on.

Yea, it's not really fair. I think it's mostly to do with personality, and a little bit to do with expectations.

Also, Exum doesn't actually get a free pass on here though. Most game threads are full of guys relentlessly making fun of him.
