#1 Pick to Utah?

I really don't see this happening. We watch Favors play every day. The normal NBA fan would see this trade and say "oh yea, he was a high pick a few years ago, haven't really heard about him since." A casual fan would say "Who?" This is the #1 pick in a very good draft, I'm sure there is a better deal out there somewhere if they really want to trade the pick. Favors was 13 and 9 last year with good D (though not as good as this board would have you believe.) Not even Cleveland is this dumb, I doubt this happens without another big piece from us.

Im sorry but this doesn't sit well with me. We should have tanked and could have kept Favors and got into the top 3. It's ridiculous.
No way could we have finished worse than Philly and Milwaukee. Bucks had EVERYTHING go wrong and Philly dumped most of their starters for 2nd round picks. So yeah, maybe by trading Hayward, Favors and Burks for 2nd round picks we could have lost 7 more games and had a chance at Philly's pick.

Not really. If Embiid gets picked there are other bigs available later. Randle, Vonleh and Gordon could all be there if Embiid isn't. Part of the reason they might want to do this is because they are leary of Embiid's injury and want a big.

Cavs also want to win NOW. Even a healthy Embiid would have been a project. Hawes is unrestricted and Varejao is hurt more than healthy these days. Though I really don't believe the rumor, it does make some sense. Cleveland would much rather have Favors at $12M than Hawes.

At best would could have finished with the 3rd worst record if we tried. Which would have given us the 4th pick, if the lottery played out the same.

If this does go down is there a free agent available to replace Favors with? I like Gobert but I don't think he's close to being ready for that much responsibility.

Asic could likely be had for the #35. Houston wants to unload that salary. Jazz could afford it with Favors off the books. Rockets were asking for a #1 at the deadline; no one bit. I'm sure the #35 would be close enough for them. Even better in fact because they're getting a non-guaranteed rookie with near 1st-round value.

And after the news today, we'd all be jumping out windows. I can just imagine what is going on in Philly. They were GUARANTEED to have one of the consensus top-3 fall to them. And likely Wiggins or Jabari since most rumors had Cleveland leaning towards Embiid. Now they're looking at Exum or Vonleh.

I'd be stunned if we moved up to #1 and took Wiggins over Parker. The whole world knows (or thinks they know) that we're gushing over Jabari.

Though I'd be stunned if we traded Favors, too, so I clearly know nothing.

I hear Thomas S. has already met with Gail and Greg. The future of the church's fleet contract hinges on taking Parker.

Just a thought, but if this deal DOES happen, I wonder if we have the Embiid injury to thank. Cleveland desperately needs a big, was likely set on taking Embiid at #1. Now they have to scramble to find a starting center.

Jazz would take crap salaries back in order to free more cap space for Cleveland to run at LeBron. That probably means Jarret Jack, but could also mean Bennett, Thompson or Zeller.

Or did Cleveland create the situation with the big foot injury reveal so that they were justified in trading the pick? There is no spoon.

Wasn't The Thriller a huge Jarrett Jack fan back in the days (in his former life)?

Si Senor.

So? I wanted cp3 with our #3 lotto pick. I was ok with Duron. But I wanted cp3. Prior to the jazz trading up from #6, I wanted us to trade down into the later lottery to get green and/or Jack.

I really liked those 2 players. Jack and green. Green finally looked good last year with Hornacek's Suns. However, Jack has been steady since day 1

As it has turned out, Jack has been a great player. How many other 22 picks last 10+ years?

Look at some of the guys drafted ahead of him:

2 Marvelous Marvin
5 Ray Felton
9 Ike Diogu
10-11 2 foreigners I've never heard of
12 Sean May
14 Rashard McCants
15 Antoine Wright
16 Joey Graham
19 hakim Warrick
20 Julius Hodge

Until finally Jack was drafted at 22. He's outperformed many lotto picks who aren't even in the league anymore.

Once again, I think my experience in playing and coaching allows me to make some pretty good observations.
