Another version of the news story.
In short someone was a at a rec center point what a appeared to be a real gun at several people. Somebody call 911 and said there is the young guy pointing a gun at people. Police show up order him to put his hands up and he reaches for the gun and gets shot.
Note the air gun was modified to remove the orange tip. The linked article show pictures of the airsoft gun. Personally I would have believe it was a real weapon from a distance.
My questions are?
Why did his parents let him have access to an modified air gun? Or did a friend give it to him? Or at least the parents should know something about it? Why did he think it was good idea to take an air gun into public and point it at people? Why didn't he obey lawful commands from Police? This last question is the only real point of contention to me. Did he really make a reaching for a gun motion?
Based on what the Police knew at the time they made the correct decision. As the taser/rubber bullet stuff--- when confronted with what appears to be a real firearm-- all police officers would use lethal force.
