Holy crap. It's Utah and then seven East teams at the bottom of the standings. As weak as the east is, that bodes well for the Jazz. Those guys have to play each other and one of them has to win. Hopefully they each win a couple and the Jazz end up with a comfortable lead for the worst record.

Marc Gasol is expected to be out 10-12 weeks. Even with the injuries to Curry and Iggy, the chances of them missing the playoffs is looking even dimmer if Memphis isn't in the equation.

Have hope. Pelicans and Memphis can battle for the 8th seed. And I wouldn't count the lakers or suns out. Besides, the gs wurrios have a thin thin bench and anything can happen with Curry and Bogut.

Agree. Milwaukee has a very soft schedule over the next 2 weeks. They either help the Tank for Utah by picking up a couple of wins or give some other EC teams near the bottom a few W's.

Importance of east west dynamics on playoff odds... is huge

This is a great point. The East has 4 teams with winning records (i.e., 4 "current" playoff teams with losing records), the West has 4 teams with losing records. The 12th seed Lakers would be the 5th seed in the East.

Amazing even at this early stage of the season.

The Jazz (and Wariors) have much harder schedules than their "lottery competitors" which bodes very well for our odds of top picks.

Told you so

Akmvp was dead on

So them 4 will play 48min a night? Insert Lucas III here and it gets so ugly that nobody will save from tank. Lucas III is such a perfect tank commander that Lindsey should get major props for signing that little chucker. Biedrins at least will rebound some and block some, Jefferson might get hot on occasion, while Lucas will play Jazz out of the close game all the time. And he is like pylon on defense. You will miss big Al and Boozer after watching Lucas III.

You have to think that with the East playing each other more often, and the same thing with the west playing each other, it will even out a little. It's always the case that 3-4 games under will get you the 8 seed in the east, and 3-4 over .500 might be lottery in the west, at least the last few years

Well they have:

Philly - potential
CHA - they're not tanking
Pistons - they're not tanking
CHA - they're not tanking
Boston - potential
Boston - potential

Pistons they're not tanking
Wizards - they're not tanking

Potentially 3 wins coming up... (2 of them at the expense of BOS though)

\>__</

Well they lost to Philly and is looking good to lose to CHA as well today.

I knew it won't be easy... c'mon Bucks!!~!

Sooo basically you won't take the bet?

I'm not going to bet...there are too many things that play into final records including injuries and trades. And bet against someone in the STG? One would have to be barking mad to wager with someone in that cadre. You guys are like Ali Baba and the 40 thieves. :p Right now, though, I think Phoenix is a stronger team than Sacramento. Bledsoe has been great and the team is getting extremely strong play out of Dragic and the Morris brothers.

As for the overall tank, I don't see how the Jazz finish lower than Milwaukee. That roster looks ghastly! The only thing that might give them a few wins is that they play in the EC. Sacramento scares me a bit, although in terms of overall talent RIGHT NOW, I'd have to rank Cousins, Thomas and whoever you want to put third (Vasquez? Patterson?) over Hayward, Kanter, Favors.

Well, a mixed night for the tank. Orlando and Sacramento almost came away with BIG upsets. Washington won and Boston got a road win at Atlanta. Milwaukee got crushed by Charlotte. Go Jeffercats! Denver game is still up for grabs, but I assume Dallas will make a comeback.

The Bucks are legit scary.

We need to have some of our players get hurt in a bar fight, too.

Maybe later in the season. Right now we WANT Hayward to keep shooting. Kanter is playing terrible defense and isn't much better outside of 5 feet with his shot. Perhaps someone should steal Favors' fry sauce the next time they see him in Arctic Circle. Volunteers?

LOL.. tell that to Huge/Size/NAOS - he still thinks Hayward is on track to shooting 40% from 3's for the season.
