What's new

2011 draft.....

Nothing screams future superstar than watching some euro shoot jumpers in an empty gym without any defense.

If gym shooting drills is what determined the value of the player, Jimmer and Kanter would be the top 2 picks.

Guys like Lebron, Dwight Howard, and our very own Favors, would go undrafted against the likes of JJ Redick, Jason Kapono, and Kyle Korver.

I'm more anxious to know about Kanter's athleticism. What about his competitive spirit? Why is he doing only shooting drill and not anything related to defense (which is a concern with nearly every euro)?

Watched Kanter's new video. He has great footwork like Boozer and a similar body type. But Boozer has more lift. I see Kanter struggling to finish at the hoop from time to time. But on the bright side his jumper looks great.

Yeah, I see a lot of Boozer in him, minus the v'jay-jay.

There are two "Euro"s that aren't under contract and you can guarantee will be in the NBA the second they can. Those two happen to be the only two I give a care about (Kanter, Biyombo).

Now that is good information.

Does anyone happen to know when the Euro season ends so the Euro players can come over for workouts & interviews?

When I see Kanter I see a bigger, stronger, quicker, more athletic Kevin Love. First, let it be noted that as good as Love's numbers looked last year, I still think he's overrated, and I in no way think that Kanter will be a 14 REB a night guy, but I bet he would probably be our best rebounder (depending on Favors minutes), and he's got a great jumper that looks like it'll develop out past the 3 pt line. It just looks like Kanter is light years ahead of other "big" 18 yr olds. I still like Irving if things bounce our way (do work big Larry in the sky), but Kanter's now my #2 and gaining ground.

Please, explain how Kevin Love is "overrated". I'm dying to know.

Horrid defender. Versatile, smart player, but isn't exactly a go-to scorer either. I get the feeling his team's rebounding percentages don't quite follow his individual prowess either, but I'm purely speculating.

As an aside, the thing that is so amazing about Rodman is that besides being the most prolific, skilled, talented, and relentless rebounder in NBA history is that he never sacrificed defense to get them. And it shows because whether you like the guy or not, his teams were always amazing and it wasn't a coincidence.

Vesely himself said his contract should not be a problem. The two guys with definite contract issues are Jonas V and Mirotic. Vesely was one of the first guys to declare. The team he plays with is a low budget Serbian team that I am sure he wants to leave.

NUMBERICA already helped me out a little with this one, but I think Love's numbers were grossly inflated by playing on a GD awful team. I still think he's really good, but how he made the All-Star team over Aldridge I'll never know.

Again, how is he overrated? We all know Kevin Love isn't a top ten like player, but he's a great and solid player. Does he have holes in his game? Yes. Is he hyped like some clowns that are overrated? IMO, no. Dude was USA's secret weapon in the Olympics and still barely got to play.

If anything, the guy is underrated imo.

So one of your points of him being overrated is because he was voted by the coaches to make the all star team?

I think his numbers were inflated, but come on, his double-double streak and NBA record of 51 games is impressive. I don't care what team you play for. That's not overrated.

He isnt even a top 25 player. If you are a top 25 player you should at least be able to lead your team away from the worst record in the NBA.

Coaches didn't put him in. Stern did. Stern picked him to replace a giant chinese dude. Majority of coaches/players that spoke about this thought it was a travesty that Aldridge didn't get in. Never said Love's not good, just that he's overrated and to be honest I think most people around the league know what he is, it's the average fan that saw two of his games and saw the huge numbers he put up on an awful team and that he made the all-star game and they automatically think he's a 1st team all NBAer. Guy played for numbers which is exactly what 99.99% of players in his same position (stuck in Minnesota with a bunch of eskimoes) would have done, so I don't blame him, but I wouldn't build my team around Kevin Love.

Again, I'm not saying he's a top "what ever number you want to insert here" player in the league, he's just not overrated. I don't care who you are, you don't break NBA records for the sole purpose of being on a crappy team, with a crappy coach, with a crappy gm, and no direction. I wouldn't build around him either, but I'm not going to say he's "overrated" and Aldridge got robbed. No way. I just don't know what you mean by "overrated". I don't think anyone in the world pimps Love like he's the best basketball player and I guarantee you 99.9% of coaches and players in the NBA respect him and his game.

And where the hell are you getting your numbers? I don't even have to look anything up, and I'd bet both my nuts that Dwight Howard had more FT attempts than Love and Durant made more.

Archie, if you where a GM right now and Love was a free agent, what kind of contract would you offer him?
