What's new

2011 draft.....

If Kanter wants to be a pf why does he want to play for Min, they have Love who is there stud, and last Time I checked he plays pf.

I don't think playing his preferred position is as important as getting minutes at SOME position. And he wants to move up past where he's projected optimally.

At 3 I hoping for Derrick Williams now. I would be happy with Irving. I am still not convinced that Kanter or Knight will be that great in the league. They are both projects. I don't see how Kemba fits with how we like to play.

At 12 I am convinced that Leonard will be gone. Brooks is intriguing. I still like Valaciunas at 12. Burks could be a valuable pick. Jimmer would be in play at 12 if we don't draft a point. Biyombo at 12 would be a good risk.

yep. I think I'm starting to like Brooks more than Burks.

I worry about burks. He is not a good defender and cant shoot. 2 things the jazz need. Thompson can at least shoot. Brooks worries me because everything I see about him is to me oriented. I keep getting glimpses of almond. If you want the psychology of why I think that way ask I might explain

Explain. We got a month until the draft.

Well let's start with those lime green shoes. They scream look at me.

Second listen to how many times he refers to himself. Me or I. Never does he talk about the team. Now I understand these interviews are all about them but listen to Brandon knights interview it is a lot different.

Third great players make those around them better just by being there. Brooks' team sucked other players didn't get better just because he was out there. On the flip side byu players played better when Jimmer was playing.

The interview were he compares himself to Kobe is a great example. It is late and need to organize more of my thoughts

Agree xthren. Knight's interview was first-rate. He talked about being a leader, but also about how much work he still needs to do. I came away impressed. If the Jazz go with Knight, I won't have a problem with that. On the other hand, with Jimmer slipping a bit, maybe they're thinking they HAVE to take him at #12. Imagine the roar of the crowd if his name is announced. They could immediately open up the ticket booths and sell another 2,000 season tickets.

So Kanter/Fredette would make sense (or Williams/Fredette). Leaves Utah thin at SF, but that could be addressed by resigning AK or using the MLE.

I have seen some people here who are worried about Knight's ability to penetrate, those worries are reasonable, but I think it is because Knight has a pretty weak left hand as of right now. Something he really needs to work on.

Based on past experience, drafting a guy that would get booed by the crowd seems to be the way to go......

Also, any option that would lead to the resigning of AK is not a good one...

It seems like Kanter can play Center for us.
I was worried about him being too short, but 6'11 in shoes is tall enough right?

We replace Memo with Kanter.

Big Al/Sap are the 4s. Favors and Kanter the 5s. DAMN! What a nice group of bigs.

Draft Singleton to replace AK....I'm loving the roster next year. Loving it.

Kanter and Singleton. Get it done KOC

Kanter tall enough - I don't think so.

From Draft Express – I pulled the list of players at Enes Kanter’s height taken in the draft
since 1995. DeAndre Jordan is a 7 footer, so he shouldn’t be on the list. See any starting centers, all-star centers or super star centers in the list any where?

The Jazz already have a decent offensive center, what we need is a good defensive center and I don't think Kanter is it. I didn't like his lateral movement in the cone drill, did not like his jumping ability and I am not crazy about his height. I tried to create an arguement, with myself, that Alonzo Morning was a 1/4 inch shorter and he was a good defensive center, but then I saw he had 5 inches in wing span on Kanter. If the Jazz draft him as a power forward, would be the only way I would be happy picking him. We then would need to move Favors to center and trade Jefferson. KANTER IS NOT THE DEFENSIVE CENTER WE NEED!

How many guys under 6' 9.75" are playing center in league right now?
Have you looked that up?
Has to be some.

So I was going to start a new thread for this but decided to just post it in here instead. Hypothetically, if the Cavs go Derrick Williams or Enes Kanter at #1, don't we have a fair shot at Irving considering Rubio's coming over this year for the TWolves sitting at #2? I know it seems like a foregone conclusion that Irving is #1 but crazier things have happened.

Don't think Cavs will take Kanter at #1.
Cavs fans are blue collar type group.
Cavs owner should take American players at #1 and #4.
Don't think Cavs fans would want a foreigner replacing Lebron.
D Will is closest resemblance to Lebron.

Al Hortford is a good comparison to Kanter. I think he will be able to rebound at an elite level in the league.

If Irving is on the table at 2, that only makes the pick more valuable in trade. Additionally, I can easily see Minny taking Irving and then trading the rights to Rubio eventually. I just don't see Irving making it to 3 but it's not out of the realm of possibility.

Actually, this is pretty astute. Way to go Dr. Freud. And in spite of Brooks' personal numbers his team sucked this year. He looks really talented so that should help him in workouts that are all about him, but as part of a team he may not be so great.

I'd rather take Fredette.
