2011 draft.....

Irving.

In my admittedly naive assessment, Derrick Williams is Michael Beasley with a little less athleticism and none of the idiocy (which is pretty good). If the Jazz are planning on rolling with Favors, Millsap, and Jefferson, he might not be the best fit here if the Jazz wanted to see what would happen with him at the 4.

Perry Jones isn't a 3. He might be a perimeter-oriented 4 in the vein of what Lamar Odom has become and that's awesome, but he's also soft and doesn't rebound. Having what appears to be three PFs already making up the big rotation, it doesn't make a ton of sense to me. If Jones was a homerun, then you have to go BPA.

I like Harris, but Irving looks like a perfect PG. Not only jet-quick player (like so many of the PGs that have been taking over of late), but has a very well-rounded game, a jumpshot, and has good size for the NBA which never happens. Use Harris to try to get that mystery wing or something. But Irving looks transcendent and pairing him with Favors (and even Hayward?) is one hell of a young core moving forward.

If the Jazz are fortunate to end up in the top 3 and miss out on Irving, I think moving Millsap in a package for a true C and drafting Williams makes a lot of sense.

Mods please merge with the draft thread, or the other draft thread, or a draft thread that went unnoticed because there are already numerous draft threads. In fact, I believe one is right at the top as a sticky titled "2011 draft".

Is it too much to ask that board members read through threads and post this stuff in an existing thread if possible? There are way too many threads that repeat something that has been said 10x already.

From here on out I'm neg. repping anyone who starts a duplicate thread absent an obvious mistake. Laziness and thinking you're more important than the last guy do not count.

I thought Derrick Williams was projecting more of a three? I would love to see a starting front line of Al, Favors and Williams next year. Though Kyrie looked amazing before the injury.

Irving is a no-brainer if he's available. Even then, you keep Harris at least for the first year and then he becomes an attractive piece and expiring at that, if I remember correctly.

Believe Perry Jones is a PF. He has not outside shot what soever. Looks like he even plays C as well. I think you are confusing him with Terrence Jones from KY.

nbadraft.net list PERRY Jones as a SF and compares him to Tracy McGrady. Not a PF.

Thank you, king moderators. You will either be in my prayers or I will pray to you, but I don't know which yet.

Franklin is posting duplicate ideas in different threads, telling us to stop posting duplicate threads. Not that there is anything wrong with that.

Numberica, I agree with everything you've said. Have you any thoughts on Chris Singleton?

My own two cents being a FSU alumnus. Known as a great defender, not sure he is good enough offensively to take with either lottery pick (if we dont make playoffs). 3pt shooting so-so.

Really not trying to be a smart *** here at all but what are you basing "elite athleticism" off of? Have you seen some measurable's out there on him? Also, who in the NBA do you consider elite athletes?

I've watched him 3 times this year and highschool highlights (every top 100 kid looks elite against average high schoolers) and while being very athletic I'd say he's in the median range of athlete currently in the NBA. To me elite is LeBron, Amare, Howard, Griffin and Rose.

That said I like him a lot.

No, I think you were confusing what I meant. I did not mean Honeycutt has elite athleticism. I meant that in general, we should target someone with elite athleticism and some skills. For the most part, with good coaching (and work ethic), one's skills can improve. Athleticism, not as much. Those raw fast twitch fibers are either there or they're not.
