What's new

2011 draft.....

Watched Faried today, he is completely worthy of a late lottery pick. Dude is a physical monster and a workhorse on the boards.

I think I could get on the Perry Jones bandwagon, if he's really an SF. He could be really hard to guard. He's got talent, for sure. He's just playing out of position in college. Still don't know if he's a hard worker.

Man, who else is impressed by Parsons? And he's a projected 2nd rounder? I'm not sure how he is defensively but the kid is 6'10", agile, can rebound, pass his *** off and shoot the three. And he seems like he has a focus and passion out there. Sign me up for him as AK's replacement at 1/16th the cost.

And yes, again, I know we have no 2nd rounders.

At this point, my dream would be Harrison Barnes + Kemba Walker. If we got that combo, I really think we could do some damage in coming years. This would allow us to unload harris' contract, freeing up a little space after next year and giving us a LOT of talent with great contracts.

I like Perry Jones a lot too. I mean his athleticism is off the charts, his mismatch potential at SF would be unreal. He's got a good looking shot too, just didn't shoot a good percentage. IMO, he has the most potential in the draft but also has bust potential. I think once he realizes his potential he will be a monster.

Outside of Irving, no PG in this draft has a chance to be better than Harris, so I dont see a point in drafting a PG unless its Jimmer (because he would be more of a shooter/scorer off the bench)

Also I have decided, unless he shows me more, I do not want any part of Harrison Barnes. His game is almost 100% predicated on him taking difficult jump shots. He is terrible on the catch and shoot, and does not get to the rim that well. I hope he has a great tourney so its him past Derrick Williams (in other teams eyes) and gives us a better shot at landing Williams.

Just a fantastic talent. Makes me wonder if we can draft Williams to play the 3 and have AK play the 2.

Yeah, the crazy thing is that he has legit post moves and footwork. Most tweeners cant do that, but he can legitimately do anything on the court.

Jimmer Fredette is not that bad of a defender as everybody says. BYU relies on him for a lot on offense and to do that Fredette has to save some energy for the offensive side of the ball. After watching Fredette today and almost every other game, the more I watch him the more I like him. For those who say he is selfish and is not a good passer he got seven assists today and would have had about 13 if his teammates would hit their open shots. Look who he has to pass to Abouo, Emery, Hartsock, and Collinsworth not the greatest players he has to work with and still managed to get seven assists and he should have gotten a lot more. Also everybody says he is unathletic, while he is not a freak athlete by any means Fredette shows some athletiscism whenever he goes in for lay-ups over defenders. He also grabbed four rebounds that were pretty much loose balls showing off his hustle. Fredette has dunked in a game before, and if athleticism is such a big thing for point guards why did John Stockton succeed show me a video of him dunking? You do not need to be that athletic to play the point guard position in the NBA and Stockton is the perfect example of it. In no way am I comparing Fredette to Stockton I am just comparing their athleticism and how you do not need it to be a point guard in the NBA, Stockton was one of the best if not the best point guard ever.

Yeah, it might be a mistake passing on Fredette with the second lottery pick. I mean if someone I like better falls that's one thing but I don't think anyone will and Fredette may still be there. And to expound on Cousinsfan11's post, Fredette is crafty if not athletic. But I think the comparisons to Nash are more accurate than Stockton. Nash is not known for his athleticism nor his defense and yet he won the MVP.

Right now a lot of people think he's backup material, but he's 6'2" and could be starter material. It's just in the offense BYU runs he's expected to score like a SG.
