What's new

2011 draft.....

Why exactly would we take Derrick Williams? Do we really need another undersized PF? We're already phasing out Millsap. Favors and Jefferson are the future. Why waste a pick on another Millsap?

I think Irving is going to be a player.

If he falls to 6 though would be the BPA, and other teams that covet him may offer you their lower pick + a good player in return. Denver for instance needs a PF to replace Martin, do they offer Affalo in a s&t + their pick for Williams? (I probably wouldn't do that trade just using as a quick example)

Williams for the umpteenth time will not play power forward in the NBA. Jesus. He's a small forward.

It's hard to say that a guy that really never has played as a SF will now become one. However, saying he's Paul Millsap just because he's probably undersized for a 4 is ****ing rich.

We should draft BPA with the Nets pick.

With the other pick we should go old school and target the absolute best Under 20 prospect in Europe. Draft and Stash. No idea who that is, but I'll deliriously ecstatic on draft day when Jay Bilas says, "Wow, the Jazz could have had Kemba Walker! Don't even know who this kid they took is but we're hearing they have no phones in the country where he lives so we won't even be able to hear from him."

I dont know if it's just me, but from what I've seen Derrick Williams at best case is a smaller Lamar Odom, and he also reminds me a bit of Boris Diaw. I'm not all that impressed. Maybe my opinion will change the more I see him. I'll admit I haven't seen enough to have an educated opinion..

The problem with Terrence Jones is he has poor shooting mechanics. He is a tough guy and a very good slasher and defender but his outside shooting and FT shooting are not good. He would have to completely revamp his shooting stroke if he wants to become a good outside shooter.

On the other hand, if T. Jones could shoot like Derrick Williams he would be hands down the number one pick.

Terrence Jones sounds a lot like Ronnie Brewer. I liked Brewer but someone like him isn't worth the Jazz' first lottery pick. Maybe the second one, but I'd probably go with someone else.

Terrence jones and rb are not comparable by any stretch. Earlier in the season t jones had about 15 game stretch where he lit it up. I think his shot can be fixed. I love his defense, handles and vision. He could be special.

Has anybody looked at the Jan Vesely highlights? The kid is flat out sick. Better looking than Barnes on tape. Like a young AK--not as good defensively, much better offensively.

yeah, I was gawking at those highlights a few days ago. The guy wants to kill you when he gets into the lane.

the scouting reports give hope that he can develop a consistent shot as well. It would be hard to be disappointed with that pick if he does. At 6'11'' and with hops out of the gym, he is going to be a match-up nightmare at SF.

Hey, I know very little about him except some really like him. So I'm trying to collect more info since it looks like he'll be there for the Jazz in the 6-7 range, and maybe even at the 12-13 range.

From what I've seen he looks actively engaged in the game, a solid team player - but not a go to stud. But maybe he was during that 15 game stretch Box was referring to and could be someone the Jazz could lean on when the game's on the line. I don't know. Thus far I'm preferring Barnes or Kanter. But I'll keep researching.
