2011 draft.....

Watched Harrison Barnes again today, still relatively unimpressed. He looks like a late lottery pick to me. No doubt the kid can shoot, and he has good size and good defense. I wouldnt be upset if we took him, but at hopefully we can go for more of a home run. I can see Barnes being a player like Rip Hamilton or something, a really good complimentary player, but never a star. I think his draft stock is only so high at this point because he is still riding the hype of coming in as the #1 high school player.

Watching Nolan Smith today. He is indeed nasty. Could possibly have a better NBA career than Harris.

He is projected to go in the top 5 right now and if UNC makes a tournament run he could easily go #1.

Which is why I"m rooting so hard against UNC. He realizes his potential more and more with each passing game. I'm falling for this kid. I cant decide who I like better - Barnes or Kanter.

Would anybody trade our 6th pick in next years draft (if that is where the lottery puts us) for Evan Turner (philly)?

Question is whether 2nd pick in last years draft better or worse than what we are getting in next years draft?

I know Turner is looking like a bust but at the 6th spot in the upcoming draft isn't looking that great right now. I am not saying I am for this because I am not sure how good Turner would be for us. But I wanted to know what everyone thought about an idea like this?

Or Is there a player who hasn't lived up to there draft position from the last couple of years that you would trade our 6th pick for?

I didn't see enough of Turner last year.

Anyone see enough they feel confident in ranking the following: Evan Turner, Harrison Barnes, Enes Kanter, Jan Vesely

There is no NBA message board that would have as little patience for Turner as this one. His shot is as ugly as Brewer's. Check out any youtube clip. He's got literally one hand on top of the ball and his release has a hitch in it. His shots make T-Mac's look like rainbows. He might literally be one of the worst 5 shooters at the 2 in the game.

Ya I went back and looked at film and also looked up scouting reports. He isn't a catch a shoot player at all. He wouldn't be good for us. He needs more of a shot to work for us.

Anybody else we could trade for with this pick? I am just not liking what players available. They all look like role players. Nobody stands out to me.

I havent watched him play at all this year, but in college he was pretty lethal from mid range.

I didn't watch a lot of him in college. But I've seen a handful of Sixers games this year. It's an ugly shot. My theory is his mid-range success (or whatever success he had) was predicated on his shooting off the dribble from midrange. Slower, smaller defenders, doesn't need great elevation, an extra tick to aim it in. AAA power, lots more trouble against major league pitching. His mechanics are a nightmare.

How about Paul Millsap, and someone else, nets pick for Tyreke Evans and Thompson. Evans regressed from his rook. Season would the Kings go for this?

If Barnes shows what his potential is then he could go #1. Because of this I want UNC defeated ASAP. SO CLOSE TODAY!!!
Barnes appears to me to be the stud you guys are looking to trade the #6 pick for.

Honestly I am not a huge fan of the guy. Only seen him play a few times but he reminds me of Marvin Williams a lot. I don't see anything special in him. Good role player but never an all-star talent.

Who is this "home run" you talk of in this draft? Smith?

I can understand having some doubt in Barnes, but please tell me who doesn't give you any worry? All these picks have some big issues imo.

Anyone watching the Arizona/Texas game?

Derrick Williams is a warrior. He's missed some shots, but I love his aggressiveness. He had a clutch play and free-throw at the end, plus defense in the last second. I could see him being an emotional leader for a team.

I agree with those that are down on Barnes because he hasn't shown himself to be an all-star talent thus far. Neither has Derrick Favors, but I'm giddy with his potential. Don't know if either of them will realize their potential but at pick 6 you aren't gonna get a home run. This is the draft. Nothing's a sure thing. -- Greg Oden was a sure thing and look how that's turned out. Derrick Williams at least has put up great numbers, but he's not without his flaws either. Fredette's put up big number but no one thinks we should draft him with the 6th pick (well, some maybe but they're wrong).

At pick 6 it's likely that the Jazz will get someone decent. And MAYBE, just maybe, they've got hidden all-star talent in them.
Problem with Barnes is he's not hiding it too well anymore and might play himself into the first pick. I hope he sucks the rest of the way and his team loses to Marquette. Get his *** off the tv.

I like Barnes and I think he will be better than Marvin Williams. I think he has a good handle, shoots well, and is an aggressive rebounder. However, I think Derrick Williams will be a better pro. It will be interesting to see if as many freshman come out as people think. If I were Barnes, i would stay in school because there may not be an NBA season next year. If there is an extended lockout, it could ruin a lot of kids careers if they come out too early.
