What's new

2011 draft.....

It's amazing looking at this thread how much we're spinning the wheels here. Someone mentions a guy available at 6 or 12, and then there's a post describing the warts of that guy while saying another would be better. Another poster comes in showing the issues THAT player had while showing the positives the first guy had, and then the cycle continues.

Kind of shows how even (read: weak?) this draft really is. The positive thing is that every player that the Jazz could draft has positives, and the posters that wanted another guy can't really complain too much since that player probably didn't deserve to be drafted that high either.

I imagine trying to score inside against Derrick Favors and Bismack Biyombo would be challenging. Maybe our wings wouldn't have to double down all the time and get burned by 3-pt. shooters.

It's settled. Bismack at 6. This thread's done.

Trade Millsap and the 12th pick for Derrick Williams. Throw in CJ if you have to or even the golden state pick next year also.

Trade Bell for nothing

Than Draft Bismack Biyombo

Harris - Free Agent - Free Agent
Hayward - Free Agent
Williams - Miles - Evans
Favors - Biyombo
Jefferson - Biyombo - Okur - Fesenko

Call it an off-season ;)

Watching Enes Kanter highlights I get a crazy Kosta Koufos vibe..

Jan Vesely plays a lot like AK. Good and bad thing I guess.

My notes on Vesely based on this game

-Good Post entry passer
-Good straight line athlete
-run lanes on the break had and tries to dunk everything
-attempts to fight for rebounding and defense position but he is just too weak to hold the position
-struggles to stay in front of quicker players and getting around screens
-struggles to anticipate what defensive position to take.
-Attempts to block shots based on his athletism. Rarely cut people off.

Based on what I saw I see more of an athletic face-up four who can post up most SFs. I don't see him able to defend 3's and fight around screens.

AK was and probably still is quicker laterally than Vesely. They are different players.

Personal Draft Board

1. Irving
2. Derrick Williams
3. Bismack Biyomobo
4. Kemba Walker
5. Kanter
6. Knight
7. Vesely
8. T. Jones
9. Leonard
10. Burks

My big board, not mock draft.
1. Irving
2. Knight
3. Williams

7. Vesley
8. Walker
9. Klay thompson ( mocks are showing him in the lottery now as i predicted here first)
10. Hamilton.
11. Burkes
12. Tristan

So if a player like Biyombo or Kanter (although I have reservations about his athleticism and durability) is available when we pick, I think we should take one. Our frontline is still undersized, nonathletic, and pretty defensively inept (especially Millsap. Who should really be thinking about moving to the SF spot).

Even if they don't turn out to be great, at least they're big. They'll bring size.

I guess you're not juiced about this year's J. Jack?

This is Blazers philosophy, you know, the one they used when they passed on McKevin Jordant.

So who's the Michael Jordan of this draft?

Who's the Durant?

Does Biyombo have a long history of injuries?

Dumbass. Instead of taking a cheap shot why not offer something to the thread?

the point is, Mr. Asscooker, you don't pass on Irving or DWill2. Why do you have to make your annual hyperbolic statements about the draft and the the state of this team before the lottery balls even fall?
This thread is over 130 pages long. I've made my contribution. When you do the research you'll find that I've wrapped my opinions in conditional statements -- not trenchant sort of best-philosophy-EVAR kind of approach that you take.

Also, the Jack burn is just awesome. It will be repeated.

EDIT: on second thought, is the Jack comment really a burn? Is it a burn to bring up your behavior the LAST TIME THE JAZZ WERE IN THIS SITUATION? I'm thinking 'no' on both accounts. My statements here are my latest contribution to this board: don't get thrilled by the o gatino

No one said that we should pass on Irving or Dwill2 dumbass.

But do you really think we're going to be in the top 2?

How about you join the rest of us in reality and understand that we're probably picking #6.
