2014 College Football

@fishon instead of defending byu fans it's prolly just time for you to admit you don't fit in with them lol.

Fishon is the coolest byu fan I've ever met tbh

byu has far and away the most incredibly ridiculous sports fans I have ever met. It is not close whatsoever.

Legit can't wait for the Heisman and National Championship talk to start up again next year! Or has it already started??

YoU jelly of state brah?

You can't blame a large part of our fan base. When you've drank from the fountain of greatness, nothing else tastes quite as sweet.

Parity in conferences only hurts them. The SEC maintains its position of supremacy despite the relative parity between teams because there is always at least one transcendent team. The PAC hasn't had any of those since Leinart's and Bush's USC. BIG 12 also suffers from this.

Everything you are saying is logical. My perspective is, while all teams have unrealistic fans, I believe BYU has a crazy amount more than the other teams in the state. Now, that's just my opinion, and I will fully admit that there are still thousands upon thousands of reasonable BYU fans. I might be right, I might be wrong, but I'm gonna stick by that opinion.

These.

BYU fans load up on righteousness and pride in the absolute worst ways. I've never seen anything else like it (not even from bat**** crazy soccer fans).

I'm willing to bet that if you took a poll of All ute fans that they would say byu fans are teh worst.

If you took a poll of all byu fans I'm sure that they would say ute fans are teh worst.

It's all biased opinion.

As for me, I spend most of my time around ute fans due to the fact that I like to party (I have been to way more ute games than byu games)

Most all of my ute fan friends constantly talk **** about byu. They are obsessed about it.

When I went tailgating with ugli and his friends he told me "don't tell them you are a byu fan or they will hate you and you will not have a good time."

I went to my wifes work party a few years ago and we were talking football and I mentioned I was a byu fan. After that everyone was rude to me and treated me horribly, constantly taking **** about byu to me. (Btw, I dont talk trash about the utes to ute fans, cause im not a dick like that)

When I hang out with byu fans they occasionally talk **** about the utes, but not at nearly as high of a rate as my ute fan friends talk about byu.

It certainly varies from each person's experiences though I'm sure

Notice how no byu fans have brought up the derrick shelby (a former ute) controversy and arrest that just happened.

Guaranteed that if shelby had played for byu, there would have been a few ute fans making fun of the situation by now

it sounds like those ute fans have had a lot of legit bad experiences being around byu fans.

Funny thing was, they were saying how they hate byu fans and how they are so self righteous and high and mighty.

So I asked them when was the last time that any of them had hung out with a byu fan?

A couple said that they would never be caught dead with a byu fan. A couple others said they couldn't remember the last time that they hung out with a byu fan.

bro, I already know Ute fans are smarter.
Point is, it's a rivalry. A lot of fans don't even associate with fans of the other team, yet claim that they know how those fans are. (This goes both ways)

Hell, I talk about how I hate laker fans..... Yet I only know a couple and they are both cool, great guys.

Sports fandom rivalries has some similarities to discrimination.

If I show up at a party/bar full of ute fans that I don't know and let slip that im a byu fan, then a lot of them (though not all of them) will automatically not like me no matter how I act towards them. Same goes for ute fan around a bunch of byu fans.

Whenever I see someone in a lakers jersey I automatically think that they are a douche bag. Its just the way it is. Judgement gets clouded by bias.

Anyone that sports a lakers jersey is a douche bag. That is a fact. lakers fandom is a douche bag club of the highest order.

You just brought it up. ***.

Just kidding, but being Dolphin fan as well, this one hurts double bad.

I don't think you raise an apples-to-apples argument. Max Hall put a bullseye on himself by fabricating stories, name calling, and all around douchy behavior. BYU players set themselves up for scrutiny when they make remarks about "living right", etc. Can you think off the top of your head, anything Shelby has said bashing your team and your fan base? If/when certain Utah players do that, I have no problem with BYU fans kicking them when they're down.

On fan behavior, I will give you this: I do think Ute fans are meaner to BYU fans than vice versa. I'd like to see that mellow out. I find BYU fans to be rather nice but where I think they far exceed Utah fans when it comes to living in reality. Every August, my radio shows are filled with myopic BYU fans proclaiming the second coming of their program. Conversely, I hear 99.9% of Utah fans talking about how 8 wins in the PAC 12 would be a coup and a great step in the right direction.

So there you have it. One fan base is a bunch of assholes, and the other are unrealistic homers with a touch of self righteousness. As per usual, I'll side with the assholes.

The same way one knows the 8 best teams. Maybe the ninth team is the best team.
At least with 8 teams the conference champion of every relevant league would be invited with the best of the other leagues also invited and 2 at large bids it would really be easy to tell the 9th place team too bad. Either they did not win their conference or they are not in the big 5 and did not win enough to be the best of the rest. 2 at large bids for teams that lost to another top team on their home field would be plenty.
.
As it is now one of the champions from a big 5 conference is not getting in. And it very well maybe that 2 of them don't. If the league passes up a champion of a big 5 conference for a runner up in the SEC then it's a flawed system. Oh and this will happen, most likely every year the SEC will get 2 teams in leaving out 2 conference champions from other leagues.

So a large part of your fan base is 50+? Because it's been a long time since BYU has been within spitting distance of great.

Yeah, I couldn't careless about getting all the conference champs in the playoff, just the best teams.
