What's new

2014 College Football

It could be much worse than 13-6 at half. The score doesn't reflect how much we have been outplayed thus far.

"Why don't either of these teams throw it down field? What's the worst that can happen?" says the announcer

2 plays later ASU does, nearly an interception.

lol

Wilson was absolutely awful. We need a good QB in the worst way in seasons to come.

Like I said a few weeks ago as much as Whittingham doesn't want to admit he has a 2 quarterback system. When one of them isn't producing he needs to pull em. He should have given Thompson some burn imo. He should give Thompson the same opportunity to prove that he's the man that he has given Wilson. He certainly has not played worse.

The knock on Thompson is that he fails to go through his progression but I am tired of watching Wilson go through his progression only to throw it out of bounds.

We have a QB whose only purpose it seems is to hand it off to a running back, making us a one-dimensional, horribly predictable offense

where have I seen this before?

hmmm....

I don't understand how Utah can have such amazing PAC 12/NFL talent on their team and then have such pathetic talent, barely even Div I talent at the most important position on the team.

I get that Kyle isn't an offensive guru. But my hell man... Since the BJ era he hasn't recruited a single Div I QB. Sorry, but Wynn wasn't before or after that injury, way too small and had a weak arm. Wilson? Sucks. No arm. You'd think that just at least one year a blind dog would find a bone.

I was cheering for the Utes yesterday. BYU's season is over so might as well cheer for someone relevant. It's just so upsetting to see that Taysom's backup and Chuckie's back up (the 2nd stringer who is currently injured) would both look like Peyton Manning compared to this garbage known as Utah's QB system.

At this point, why the hell are you playing Wilson? Does he have some embarrassing photos of Whitt?

No one respects the passing game. Safeties are lining up near the box just like they supposedly would against Thompson. Your OC refuses to throw it downfield. So if Utah wants to become the Nebraska of the West, might as well unleash Thompson, right? Even with 7-9 men in the box, his speed and elusiveness can lead to a big play more than Wilson's awkwardness.

Right?

IT must really piss off Utah fans to know that they might have the nastiest defense and running game in the entire west yet the most goofy pee wee inept offense of the west as well.

If only they had just an avg QB Max Hall, they'd be undefeated right now.

Imagine, for a moment, if your qb's talent level was anywhere near the same as your DL... Utah could potentially be a NC team this year. This defense, special teams, and running game is NC material. Your QB? Couldn't even start for Bingham or Timpview high schools right now.

Pretty amazing really.
Ute fans should be happy as hell with this season imo.

Happy? Sorta. Frustrated as hell knowing that they could have been exponentially better had they just had an AVG talent at QB? Yes as well.

This Utah team is special in so many ways. But has one glaring defect, it doesn't have a PAC 12 qb. Hell, I'm not sure if it even has a MWC qb. Wilson sucks. Byu's walk on back up qb, Stew, looks like Peyton Manning compared to Wilson.

How the hell do you find a diamond in the rough Aussie kicker yet completely fail for YEARS at finding a workable solution at thee most important position on the field?

Oregon has a 100 + ranked defense. If there was any time to throw a curve ball and put Manning or Cox out there, this week would be it. I don't think they will though. Probably too hard to do at 6-2. But they've clearly recruited like they have a QB issue for the past few years. It's just a matter of weeding through the depth chart and seeing if that talent is worth anything. Long process most of the time.

Any Utah fan, and I stress "any", would have taken 6-2 after 8 games. As frustrating as last night was, I still can't complain with the fight and overall talent of this team considering they cannot complete a forward pass. It will be interesting to see how they finish out the year but I really feel next offseason needs to be about developing Brandon Cox and Donovan Isom. They need to be the 2 guys fighting for the starting spot next year.
