FWIW the Jazz are now closer to the Warriors in 1st place than they are to the Nuggets in 9th.

Wow, T'Wolves just blew a huge 4th quarter lead to the Rockets. Going into OT.

The Wolves are so dumb for not fouling. They were up 3 with 10 seconds left. Instead of fouling they left Ariza get an open corner 3. Wiggins airballed a half-court game winning attempt after he struggled to bring the ball up the court with any speed.

Rockets are winning ALL the close games. That won't last, things will revert to the norm as they have started to with the Grizz who were doing the same. We just have to beat them ourselves as well.

Also history tends to show that high volume 3 pt teams with poor D tend to under perform in the playoffs. Jazz have an extremely good chance of getting HCA in round 1 and winning that series. Then a fair chance of winning in round 2 depending on the match up.

Yeah, HOU doesn't scare me at all in a playoff series. The best defense in the league going up against a team that couldn't care less about defense. Hmm, I wonder who will win...

Houston is 8th in DR since the return of Beverly. Wouldn't say they're poor defensively.

OP updated with weekly power rankings from ESPN and NBA websites.

https://www.nba.com/powerrankings

NBA power ranking slink, they write pretty damn glowingly about the Jazz. Both at their ranking spot and their lead up to the list at the beginning of the article. Basically they say Utah has arrived.

Last night's recap:

Thunder lost. Hahahahaha, Suck that L Kanter. Now have a 2 game lead over them.

Suns and Mavs lost, Wolves and Nuggets won.

Tonight's games:

Big night, all the major players except OKC play.

Pelicans @ Sixers
Lakers @ Hornets
Celtics @ Grizzlies
Spurs @ Rockets
Nuggets @ Clippers
Jazz @ Warriors
Blazers @ Kings

Could be a really good night. It would look like this if the bolded teams won"

1 - GSW
2 - SAS .5 games behind
3 - HOU 3 games behind
4 - LAC 4 games behind
5 - UTA 5 games behind
6 - MEM 6.5 games behind
7 - OKC 7.5 games behind
8 - DEN 12 games behind

POR will fall to 9th and Utah will be only 1 game out of 4th and 2 out of 3rd. Jazz better come out swinging haymakers. I want Gobert to break Zaza. Hayward and Hood to hound Durant and Thompson all night long. Make them pull an Afflalo and refuse to enter the game. Ingles needs to rain down threes.

Clint Capela's out 4-6 weeks for Houston with a left leg injury. This portends well for Utah in the home-court race. Nene, Montrezl Harrell and freshly re-called Chinanu Onuaku are expected to fill in. Maybe even Kyle Wiltjer gets some burn..

Clips have lost Griffin for 3-6 weeks.

Rockets have lost Capela for 4-6 weeks.

Jazz are probably going to go 5-1 or 4-2 the rest of the month. Then will more than likely be healthy by all reports. So they will have a 2-5 week window where the 3rd and 4th seeded teams are weakened. Time to make a move and push up the ladder.

Last night's game sucked. No Favors, Hill or Burks and no Hood the second half. Even then they should not lose by 30...

But let's step back and take a look at some other developments. Thunder lost the day before. Grizzlies, Rockets and Blazers lost last night.

Spurs and Warriors (obvi) won last night. Aside from our loss the only negative was that the Clips won.

So despite the loss the Jazz are still 5th and still closer to the 3rd and 4th seeds than the 8th seed. Aside from the clips winning the Jazz did not lose any ground on the 3rd seed or to the teams behind them.

On a side note it looks like there is a battle for the 8th seed between Portland, Sacramento and Denver.

Tonight's games:

Kings @ Jazz
Wolves @ Hawks
Grizzlies @ Pistons
Thunder @ Pelicans
Rockets @ Suns
Mavs @ Blazers

Jazz will still finish December strong by winning the next 4. Then hopefully fully healthy to start a 5 game road trip with the beginning of 2017.

#TakeNote #JazzNation CHOO CHOO!!

This thread is all the way back to the 2nd page and almost to the third page? Damn stoked, you are slacking. I forgive you cause its the holidays.

Nice to see that memphis lost last night putting the jazz into the 6th spot.
Should win the next 3 games. Home against philly, home against suns, and at the nets with plenty of rest through that stretch and we should be as healthy as we have been all year by the the end of that stretch.... Then things get tough and we will need a healthy team with all our depth. Hoping Alec "slick pimp" Burks will be ready to go by the new year.

5 game road trip with very little rest in between games (2 back to backs included) starting on jan 2nd. At brooklyn, at boston, at toronto, at minnesota, at memphis and then home against cleveland. 6 games in 9 nights. 5 of the 6 on the road. 4 of the 6 against playoff teams and minnesota is loaded with young hungry talent.

That 6 game stretch will tell us a lot about how good this team is when healthy i think. Im predicting 4-2. Losses to toronto and memphis (2nd night of the back to back after winning a tough one in minnesota and having to travel straight to memphis). I think the team will be healthy and have gelled chemistry wise with a day of rest before coming home to face cleveland and earn a hard fought win. (cleveland will be in the middle of a 6 game road trip themselves and might even rest somebody)

I'll be back on it tomorrow morning. Get that W Jazz. Back in 6th!!

This last week didn't go as planned lol. Should have beat Sactown and could have beaten Toronto. But got the W in LA, Favors is back starting and Hill and Burks are starting to practice with the team. Hill is even rumored to possibly play tonight v. Philly.

Tonight's games:

Thunder @ Grizzlies (win win, Thunder loss might be more helpful)
Sixers @ Jazz

I'm going to start limiting the games I list to those that matter to the western play off chase.

If the Jazz win and Thunder lose the Jazz are back in 5th and only 1 1/2 from 4th.

Hill came back and Jazz destroyed Philly in the 4th. Brutal. Hill, Hayward and Hood all scored 20+ and Jazz are 6-0 when Hayward and Hill play together.

Also the Thunder got dominated by the Grizz last night.

So the Jazz are now 5th and can be basically tied with the Clips by the end of the week.

Suns come to Utah tomorrow night. Jazz should win and be 21-13. Clippers play @ Rockets tonight and @ Thunder tomorrow. Both very possible Ls. That would make the Clips 22-14. 1 more win and 1 more loss.

Tonight's games:

Clippers @ Rockets (win win but if the clips lose...)
Blazers @ Spurs
Mavs @ Warriors

I'm a homer and all and will get lambasted for this I'm sure but I do not agree with spycam1 and his dismissal of the Rox. They're playing really good d and have a top 3 player in the league, a guy who's gonna get calls in the playoffs, a guy who's won huge games in the playoffs multiple times. That's gonna be tough sleddin'. I think that our starters look better on paper overall as does our bench an we play better team but Ariza could slow down Hayward and Beverley could slow down Hill and Harden could go crazy. I like our chances, don't get me wrong, but it won't be easy.
