What's new

2016 NBA Season Notes/Info

Why? Has an eight seed even come close to a championship? I think people would see through that as just a cheap gimmick to get more games.

Honestly a 8-9 series would probably be more interesting than a 1-8. It would be good for young teams. Would you have watched a Jazz Rockets 3 game series last year? I would have.

Pretty badass. I youtubed it so I could see different angles and slow mo.

Both pretty good straight punches though lopez punch was pretty slow. I thought serge dodged that one nicely but felt like serge just missed on his punch more than lopez dodged it. Tough to throw a really accurate punch with all the bodies in the way trying to seperate the fight.

Speaking of, I broke up 3 fights at the end of the bar crawl last Friday at the last bar of the night. One of them was a chick fight which is always fun.

Anyone else find it cool & amusing that everytime the stadium announcer shouts out "Ruuuuubio" when he makes a 3, it sounds very much like when "Yu-Gi-Oh" transforms into his alter ego before duelling?

Rumor flying around today about a significant trade offer Philly made to the Pacers for Paul George at the deadline..

apparently it was one of Noel or Okafor, Robert Covington plus at-least 2 first rd picks.

The problem is Pacers already have Myles Turner so they don't need either Noel or Okafor, they're just redundant for them.

The two picks is nice, but if they push the rebuild button that probably means Teague won't re-sign.

So they'll be left with Turner + 2 unproven picks. I'd say that's a definite no-no for me.

yeah IDK if I'd do it... I like the idea of that style of rebuild.. I don't see the impetus tho.. They're gonna have MASSIVE cap space and just a handful of rostered players after next season..

Also then u gotta play against the dude..

Who knows just how secure Bird's job is too. I'd imagine they want to make a run in the east again, not rebuild..

So the Lakers experimenting with Clarkson at point is going particularly poor tn... he was -33 in the first 20 minutes and didn't make a FG..

Monstrous statline from Demarcus tonight in victory.. 5/9 from 3!!! more makes than the rest of the squad combined.. who needs buddy???

24 pts on 7/9 shooting from Marquese Chriss, the 3rd youngest player in the league.

The problem with the Lakers is D'Angello Russell IMO,... he doesn't seem to me like he has the right attitude, tbh. Doesn't seem light a fighter to me.

Lol do you realize how bad the Pelicans are with Cousins vs how good without right?

D'Angelo Russell is the youngest player since LeBron James to record 40pts 6 assists and have 1 or less turnover.

Yeah but he's hardly consistent.

Consistency = Effort

There's a lot more involved than effort to be consistent in the NBA..

It's not like doing your laundry on a regular basis, or avoiding sweets so your beach bod will fit into that bikini you've been eyeing all winter..

There's paid professionals, grown men making millions, some with the single focus of interrupting opponents 'consistency'..

I dunno, I just don't seem to get the feeling he puts 100% effort into his game.

You have guys like Delleanova who isn't physically gifted, but he puts his heart and soul into his game. I just don't see that kind of effort and sheer determination in Russell.

Westbrook has enough effort and determination for 3 NBA players, still isn't gonna get them where he wants to be..

Russell has more on his plate than most of these other rookies / 2nd year players could even fathom.. and there's what seems like 20MM Californians ready to run him out of town to be replaced by Lonzo..

The way he's perceived is just awful.. Instant gratification seeking at its worst.... No doubt the Lakers are getting their money's worth.. not only has he provided on court firepower..

he's provided their fans with something to fixate on and be distracted by, A scapegoat.. which plays right into managements hands.. If/when they turn it around Lakers fans actually gonna be shocked when he keeps improving which is stupid as ****.. People will say dumb **** like "never saw it coming" and the everpopular "thought he was gonna be a bust"...

It's like the Lakers showed up to some track car race with a Jalopy, handed Russell the keys and their fans blame him, the (brand new) driver, not the car.. Fans seem to think that if Lonzo Ball was driving that very same jalopy that he'd be Speed Racer..

Yeah except I'm not a Lakers fan and even I can see he isn't putting in the effort. I don't often see him chase down lose balls, tried to play locked down defense, or have that "I care" expression on his face.

He has had a few 'breakout' games I admit that. Heck I had him as my keeper last year in fantasy league and he did really well at the end, especially that Kings game. He was primed to take the next step this year and didn't.

Have you ever seen Kawhi doing 'ice in my vein' gesture? No. He just continues to grind and grind. It speaks louder.

I dunno, let's just agree to disagree on this one. He is talented it would be a pity if he doesn't continue to work to improve and become something more than a flash in the pan.
