2016 NBA Season Notes/Info

The NBA might as well just award Embiid with the ROY at the All-star break this year. Whats the point of stringing it out any further?

When he wins the MVP of the Rising Stars game they should just present him with both awards.
Cause he could get injured at any point. Can't give an award to someone if they don't even play half the season (well, except for Steve Kerr apparently).

It's a tough one. I mean who do you blame? The fool? Or the fool who follows him?

Did the Knicks not know who they traded for when they traded for Melo? Did he ever play defense in Denver? He never made it past the 1st round of the playoff there so his warts were for all to see. Tracy McGrady 2.0. Moreover they signed him up to that huge contract - he was a free agent but he stayed. Do you blame him for having the no trade clause there?

So again, who do you blame? Melo with all his faults? Or the Knicks that had no other plan but to keep him & sell tickets.

Both are guilty IMO....

Ultimately I blame the owner... James Dolan is the paramount reason I don't root for the Knicks (or Rangers) - I made the case many years ago that their problems were in fact trickling down from ownership.. I certainly believe that to this day.. I believe it's done almost on purpose in a hedged bet type of way..

I'd say it's one of the clearest examples of that type of malfeasance I've seen in pro sports in my 20 something years... A classic case of crabs in a bucket.

Have you seen this in the NY Post today?

Nevertheless, Charley Rosen, one of Jackson’s longtime friends, wrote in a Thursday column on Fanrag.com, in an unsourced piece: “It’s understood that [Anthony would] only accept being dealt to the Cavaliers or the Clippers” and possibly could be sold on the Lakers. Rosen, though, wrote that a trade scenario is “highly doubtful” with those clubs because, with Anthony nearing his 33rd birthday, “does anybody want to dispense with a rotation player, or a young sub and/or a first-round draft pick?”

LOL ... so he wants on the Cavs bandwagon now? And to the Clippers? What can they give the Knicks? Lakers' the funniest one... LOL ...

About 2 and change left in the third and NYK had scored all of 2 points in the period against Toronto.

Went on a run the last 90 seconds and finished with 8.

Horny should wipe his fingerprint's clean from that train wreck and just call it a day.

Interesting how this Carmelo vs the Zen Master showdown is gonna play out.

Can the Zen Master work his magic and finally get Carmelo to waive his 'no trade' clause? So far Phil is able to put in fans' mind the notion that Carmelo is past his use by date without even having to utter a single word. A masterful move fit for a Zen Master. Not helping that Carmelo had struggled getting the Knicks a playoff spot this year even with plenty of help. He also got ejected 3 times - the most in the NBA this year.

What do you think's gonna happen, PG_AB? How do you think this will play out?

Whats the timeframe/outlook you're talking? The question is too open ended. Certainly there will be all sorts of dramatics involved - I'd say as a diversion tactic as some sort of "low-key tanking" type of scenario. Them having all their 1st rd picks again will be treated like a trump card.

Ya know those videos of Mongolian Falconers using Golden Eagles to hunt with? Well often times the prey, like some young deer or a small wolf is already damaged/gimped and they set the whole video up like that(to protect the Eagles)...

The Knicks, as currently constructed, are like those damaged juvenile wolves that don't have a chance in hell to get away.. In the East with LeBron and Kyrie they (and many other teams) are nothing more than lame ducks preparing to fight another day(2 years from now)...

@Sportando
Isaiah Austin ended his first game as a pro in FMP win vs. Mornar Bar 92-85:

2PT: 3/5
3PT: 1/1

I don't think the fans will turn on Phil Jackson. He did draft Porzingis. He did bring in DRose. He did things. He didn't sit on his hands in the offseason. The fans also know he was hand-tied not being able to deal Carmelo at the end of last season, so he hasn't been able to do as much as he could.

But I think the fans will, at some point, turn on Carmelo. He had all those uncalled for ejections. He hasn't been playing great, blaming his shoulder (but who really knows the truth?). With each missing shot, and each loss, fans are going to be fed up with him.

So I think Carmelo will give in first and ask for a trade (if not already).

Sometimes sitting on your hands is the best option.

I feel like Phil Jackson has lost that aura that he once had. I don't think people really see him as the "Zen Master" in New York. I thought he seemed less interested in the game when he took the job in New York, and his half hearted attempts to bring in the triangle and his general behaviour and actions since then don't really do anything to change my mind.

His aura is still there as a coach, but people dont like him at all as a FO member.

GSW's lead balloons up to 29 at the half...

With GSW seeming locking up the home court, it's gonna be difficult for the Cavs to repeat I think.
