2016 NBA Season Notes/Info

LOL .. how's this for a bad trade?

DEN traded Nurkic to POR, not knowing that the game that could determine the 8th seed Nurkic would turn around and score a career high 35 points with POR beating DEN today.

Plumlee who DEN got for giving up a 1st round pick, scored exactly 0 POINT. Yup, ZERO point.

WOW.

denver also gave up a pick for him lol

I like how everybody leaves out the rumblings that Nurkic was so unhappy about his role in Denver due to the emergence of Jokic that he went full Cousins-mode in the locker room. He's had stretches of good play in the past. Let's wait until he getts used to Portland and see if he can keep his edge...

I liked your post because it's a good point, but otoh, had they given him the minutes he's showing he probably deserved, he wouldn't have been unhappy in the first place.

If you can't evaluate your own players correctly and as a result don't play a guy the minutes his talent warrants, you probably deserve the unhappy player and ultimately deserve to lose said player.

I'll never forget when it happened with Dale Ellis in Dallas. Dallas wouldn't play him, he's unhappy so they move him to Seattle and the next thing you know he's dropping 25 ppg and playing in All Star games.

We'll see what happens...Like in relationships there's a honeymoon phase with many nba players as well.
If you check his bball ref stats, you'll see he saw plenty of playing time. Now why has it changed now? Maybe because he's utilized in a more natural way, maybe he's more motivated, maybe he's got better spacing around him.
Denver tried the Jokic PF, Nurkic C combo and it was predictably horrible since Nurkic is too slow to play modern PFs and neither offers rim protection. Denver decided Jokic was the better talent and moved on. Maybe that trade was below market value, maybe it wasn't. We'll see.

So you move on by trading out the guy and giving away a first round pick to send him off? And you bring in another C in Plumlee to try and plug in the same PF spot that Nurkic vacated? How is that logical?

Nurkic was a classic example of why teams dont always draft BPA if it means creating a logjam. You just get super talented players who cant all get minutes and you are forced to sell low and look bad at the end of the day.

Plumlee is a 4/5, he has more versatility to play next to Jokic. That is why they brought him in.

No idea why the amount tho. Larry Bird dumb

I dont mind them bringing him back and seeing if Paul George can help him get back. But paying that much is mind boggling. Anything over the vet min is overpaying him. Giving him more than a year is just stupid. Sign him at min for a year and give the next 2 years be a team option still at vet min.

IDk, there must have been some kind of bidding war between them and the Wolves? They are probably desperate to add pieces for PG's last year to convince him to stay.
