2019 Trade Deadline Discussion

Are they saying jazz have interest because the jazz liked him during Hayward’s free agency, or is this actually a new rumor?

Actually, I don't think we have any idea.

Rubio, Exum and our 2019 2nd rounder for Conley

Favors, Thabo and our top 20 protected 2019 1st rounder for Porter

Those would be my two initial offers.

Why for Memphis - they shed money this year and $20+ for the next two seasons. Exum projects as a long term contributor for a team like Memphis. They could even try to flip Rubio for additional assets if they wanted.

Why for Washington - they save a ton of money. With an additional minor move cutting $2 million, they are out of the luxury. Favors fits a need for them as much or more than Porter since Washington has Ariza and Brown.

Tony Jones confirmed there is interest... said it’s no secret. I think they had interest and have continuing interest.

You'd definitely have to include a pick but it would be worth it. What are we going to honestly get with a 1st round pick in the 20's? Likely a player who won't even be in the rotation. If we can get a good player I wouldn't hesitate at all to trade away first round picks.

I don't think as many teams as you think. There didn't seem to be many suitors for Favors during free agency last offseason.

Why would you definitely have to include a pick? OPJr is a negative value contract.

Conely and OP would be great fits for this team. I like it. I think Favs is underrated, and I really like what XM was doing with the drive and dish before he got hurt. That said, adding these two players would make us a true contender.

You are well in the minority in your belief.

Then again, he's having a down year and a lot of his value revolves around his potential considering his playing in a toxic environment.

Maybe within Jazz fans, but I wouldn't imagine within Wiz and general NBA fans. I'd peg him at about $15 mil per

It'd be 20 at the lowest

Ok.

Of all SFs making 20+ a year let alone 26, I'd say the usual terrible contracts (Gordo, Parsons, Batum) are the only ones playing worse. Wiggins on his deal is definitely much worse but doesn't look as bad at 20 mil per.

I realize he's a "potential" guy and I am in 100% agreement he would thrive here, at minimum play much better than in DC, but I don't think the Jazz need to eat the cost of his poor development.

He's one of the best shooters in the nba and has incredible defensive versatility.

Not enough

Should he make $26? Otto is paid like a superstar, and he's not a superstar.

I have no qualms at the value of Otto Porter as a basketball player. Jazz don't need to give up an asset for what he is, an overpaid player. Other suitors (like Portland) could match salaries but can't offer the 2019/20 cap savings Jazz could by giving them Favors. Plus Favors for Porter swap, might even make them better this year.

If you're just looking at getting appropriately paid players your team isn't going to be good.

For what Porter provides right now, $26 million is right at the top of what he should be paid.

When the salary cap goes up by $7 million this summer and guys like Middleton are paid $32.7 million, Porter is going to look like a great contract. Ingles will look even better.
