2019 Trade Deadline Discussion

So how do the Jazz fill the other 2 roster spots? That’s awfully jazz heavy.

It’s Favors, Rubio, Crowder, Sefolosha and a 1st for Mirotic and Conley. Our depth takes a hit as well.
See what the bye out market looks like... add some smaller contracts.

Pretty impressive that this trade makes no sense for all 3 teams involved.

Jazz get Conley and stretch 4 they've coveted.

NOs gets Crowder who would fit with Jrue and the peices they'll get for AD. See what Favs looks like as the starting C there.

Memphis gets $30M expirings while getting a look at how Randle fits next to JJJnr.

Isn't it a win, win, win?

Lakers low balling NO for AD... super smart guis... AD really gonna wait two years to sign with the Lakers and 35 year old Lebron... eff the Lakers... bastards tamper then low ball. Assholes.

You nuked the starting PF/backup C, the backup PF, and the 3rd string PF for Mirotic which means the Jazz are playing Niang/Udoh as the backup frontcourt.

NOLA gets Crowder and Favs but giving up Randle, Mirotic + their 2nd means they're awfully thin in the front court unless you consider Jahlil Okafor to be an actual rotation player (I don't), and I don't think you can make that trade assuming they get the right pieces back from the AD trade. Favs is also an expiring so unless you're confident in him re-signing he just walks, which might be nice for NOLA to save some money but then you're ultra thin in the frontcourt.

MEM are basically only getting a late 1st and a 2nd since Rubio/Thabo are expirings that they likely don't re-sign, and Randle isn't a controlled asset and has a player option so unless you're ultra confident you can get Randle to re-sign with you he's likely just another expiring too who walks to a contending team in the offseason.

Maybe you could call it a win for MEM but a late 1st and a 2nd + capspace doesn't seem like great value for Conley for a small market team, and you must really think his injury history and contract kill his trade value.

I’m actually liking what I’m seeing and I’d like to take a swing on Jabari but like to do it on the buyout market so we could keep him cheap next year if he plays well.

Last couple years he’s had Kidd... now Boylen. He might be ready to put stuff together in a competent organization.

I think the time is to do it now.

If you are confident in your talent evaluation then you act before someone does it before you.

The talent is there. The biggest question mark is the health of his knee imo. So thats why you do it now. You test him out, while he is "cheap" asset wise, and see if he is worth the gamble of ever thinking about giving him any kind of lengthy contract. Getting him now is the least risky of all the ideas.

The more time you have to evaluate his fit and health the better. Waiting for the waivers is a risk too. You might never the chance to see.

I understand this, but I’d prefer to sign him for super cheap in the offseason. I think there’s a realistic chance that happens too.

Conley/Exum
DM/Korver
Ingles/Oneal
Mirotic/Niang
Gobert/Udoh/Bradley

O'Neal and Ingles can play minutes at PF and if you really want depth go give Trevor Booker a call. That lineup gives incredible space for DM to operate. Also, you know Favs is leaving right? Getting something for him and Rubio is important, expirings are only valuable if you use them in a trade.

NOs will be tanking this year so why do they care how thin they are? How thin will they be when they get 5 Lakers for AD?? Crowder is solid on a good contract and fits.

Lonzo
Jrue/Hart
Ingram
Kuzma/Crowder
Favors/Zubac

Mem wants picks too rebuild. They can flip those expirings for more picks if they wanted. Randle would have some value to a contender.

Do not trade Favors, Rubio, a first, and/or Exum/Allen for Mike. That is robbery and we would be way worse [/QOUTE]

I think Conley is overrated. He definitely is overpaid. Making a trade for him would be a bad move imo.

I would love to get Jrue though. Otherwise, we really should just put Donovan at the 1 and make a different move like Niko or Jabari.

It’s official. I’m in. This is like a cosmic guarantee that this deal is good for us and will get us to that next level.

Wow, this was a very informative and interesting article. Thanks.

I’ve been holding out hope for two deals. But it appears one is max and then some possible move this off season.

Jazz are apparently in play for Conley and/or Mirotic. The negotiation process will come to a head in the next few days. The thing that intrigues me though is Aaron Gordon.

I don't really want to trade Favors in the Conley deal unless Utah is positive they could use their MLE on someone like Robin Lopez or DeAndre Jordan in the buyout market and that seems pretty unlikely...

I'd like a shiny new bicycle. Doesn't mean it's going to happen. The market for Conley is pretty thin, basically Utah and Detroit. Detroit wants to move Reggie Jackson who sucks.

Portland would like to move Evan Turner and Mo Harkless for Mirotic. They'll put a 1st-rd pick in play though.
