2019 Trade Deadline Discussion

I agree, but we have to try right? My biggest fear is that we don't do anything before the deadline. If we do nothing now, I have every expectation that we just pick up Favors' option and re-sign Rubio because we either feel like we can't do better or we simply try not to do better. By the time we hit 2020, Mitchell will be established yet Crowder, Korver, Ingles and Gobert are either gone or going to start to plummet.

We are too good and have too much potential to just cross our fingers and hope that Rubio plays awesome.

No trade before the deadline certainly doesn't mean the Jazz didn't try. I see fans fall into this logic with the Jazz far too often.

Same thing with FA. I fully expect Jazz to keep money open for 2019 FA, and pursue big names in the hope they'd like the Mitch/Gobert complimentary players and situation. If they strike out, then of course they aren't going to let key pieces in Favors and Rubio walk. Unless Rubio were to get a larger offer than they are willing to pay.

A name I haven't seen mentioned that I'm sure a lot of playoff teams may target is Bulls Justin Holiday. He's been a real threat from deep, could upgrade the O'Neale role for this team.

Great deal for the Bucks. Middleton is almost 100% staying now. They might even have money for another big player.

Cavs will trade Love. Matter of time....

I saw some recent Middleton isn’t getting along with the coaching staff scuttlebutt ... wonder if it isn’t as 100% as I’ve always thought. This deal to me means that they almost certainly keep Bledsoe Brogdon and Middleton. Sucks Cavs gave them a get out of financial jail card on the cheap and got Hill who is a good player for their system too. Bucks killed it here.

He sure seems like it but doesn't fit the mold unless he starts taking more 3s. Has Alec Burks syndrome of passing up open 3s that are created for him.

He's started shooting them again recently. He's coming around.

We need to upgrade starters not the bench. We have plenty of good role players. Hell, our 2nd unit could probably beat Phoenix.

Phoenix has some real issues. Poor Igor.

Definitely. Needs to have +50% of his FGA from 3 to me. I'd say around 70% if he didn't get so many shots on the fast break.

I agree. I don't mind the occasional pump fake straight line drive from him... but that seems to be option 1 for him and ends in a lot of turnovers and missed layups. He is one of our few guys that can get on the break with force. If he played more as a 4 I think his drive/creation game is solid... as a wing it's rough.

I like Holiday too, but not sure how he'd get playing time with Korver now on board. I'd almost Holiday languish in Chicago and then sign a super cheap new deal with us next year. If he goes to a better situation I could see his market value rising a bit.

Cleveland has done this twice now... they are rushing things to be able to aggregate salaries. They are clearly open for business. Not a lot I'd want there though. I'm a firm no on Love.

Thon Maker is now the full-time back-up center. That could go south quickly. I think they got worse this year, unless another move to get a center is on the move, but saved tons of money.

Henson was out anyway. They got Smith too from Washington. They are fine. Hill is the best player in that trade... and the best contract as he expires essentially. They made out like bandits. The pick is pretty well protected and won't be for at least two years. Got off 18M in dead money next year and got a player upgrade as well.

They did quite well.
