2019 Trade Deadline Discussion

Let’s say that Nawlins is ready to rebuild and Jrue is obtainable. What would it take?

Rubio and a protected 1st?

Exum and Favors?

I suck at this. Spit ball mis amigos.

I'm getting Hart and at least one more 1st... Since they don't have the premium asset I want more assets.

Also, does Jaylen Brown have more value than Ingram and Kuzma... I say no. NO really should have canned Demps prior to this move, but he may have had his power stripped a while ago.

I think the future 1st is definitely something worth asking for. As for Hart, I pass on having to have him. NOLA is really high on Frank Jackson who is still there.

In any trade with LA, I would be asking for Ingram but sending him to a 3rd team. Something about Ingram, Kuzma and Lonzo just doesn't work. Ingram probably really interests a bunch of teams which means NOLA could get a really good asset for him.

Lonzo, Kuzma, Zubac, 2 1st rounders from LA and whatever assets from Ingram is really a good deal for a guy who could walk in 18 months.

Personally I'd estimate it to take two lower end assets. Rubio/Thabo/Allen/1st maybe?

In all this AD saga we have to steal Holiday. He Will be absolutely Perfect with us.
Lets this thread flow how to get Jrue
I'll give UP Exum 1st rounder and Favors. Rubio Will be Perfect of the bench.

I like Jrue. I would not call him perfect for this team. I would prefer a guy that can shoot the 3 well. Rubio has been a better 3 point shooter the last 2 years.

Jrue's ability on defense and ability to score negates any negative on the 3 point line. He has averaged at least 15.4ppg the last 4 years. Rubio's best offensive season ever was 13.1ppg.

Jrue is the type of guy who helps us beat Golden State and Houston. If we want to be a contender, we need as many of those guys as we can get.

New Orleans is out of the playoff picture once they trade AD. So getting anybody who is good on a short contract is not worth their time (like Favors). They want long term assets. This is the type trade I would want if I was them:

Charlotte gets Favors
Utah gets Jrue
NOLA gets Exum, Biyombo, 2019 1st from Charlotte, draft considerations from Utah (pick swap options, 2nd rounders, maybe a future protected 1st)

Hart is good and cheap... likely nets a first from another team... NO should be collecting all young guys, draft picks... all dat stuff.

this is the type of deal, but we'd give a first too for sure. Jrue is super valuable... Might be slightly overpaid, but a true two way guy that guards everyone from PGs to KD is worth it and a need imo.

Im not saying he isnt good, he just isnt the perfect fit. A player that can hit the 3 really well would be better. Especially since they will be playing off ball a decent amount with Mitchell.

I like Jrue and he is an upgrade over Rubio. He is a better defender and better at getting to the rim and finishing. They are the same age and put up about the same assist numbers. But I still would prefer a PG that can shoot the 3.

He would improve us but we would still have some of the same issues. When your PG cant shoot the 3 players go under on the screens and makes the pick and roll/pop much easier to guard. Our system also creates lots of open shots and if you cant knock those down it hurts. Players can leave him open and dare him to shoot while playing the passing lanes.

I dont think he is the difference between us and GS. I think we are better than Houston right now if healthy. The only way to beat GS is hope the break up. There is no way to get enough talent on one team to beat them right now.

I think I would prefer Conley to him. Although Conley might start dropping off. I would definitely prefer Beal. I might even prefer to chase D'Angelo. Who is putting up more points per 100, the same assists and rebounds, and shoots better. Although he is a worse defender but he is also much younger. Although I am not sure Beal and D'Angelo are attainable, but Jrue might not be either.

I like other options better but depending on what we give up I would make the move he does improve our team.

Jrue is 37.5% on catch and shoot threes this season. He is a threat with the ball... gets to the rim and finishes at a 67% clip... good in the midrange too.

I think his defense is a pretty big upgrade over Ricky's... and I think Ricky is a good defender.

Whether they keep AD or trade him this summer, NOLA getting Exum, two firsts and long term financial flexibility for Jrue is pretty dang strong.

Favors + Exum + a 1st is a very strong offer...

That is promising that he could play well off the ball. He would get more of those looks in our offense. He only shoots 1.9 catch and shoots 3s a game. The rest are pull up 3s that he shoots 3.1 per game at 29.5%. Hopefully those would go down.

How about this:

Charlotte gets Favors
Utah gets Jrue and Mirotic
NOLA gets Biyombo, Exum, Thabo, Charlotte 2019 1st, Utah 2019 1st, Utah 2019 2nd, Utah future 2nd
http://tradenba.com/trades/SyAx_63Q4

Why for Charlotte: Biyombo is worthless whereas Favors really fits well there for both this year and next.

Why for Utah: Two great players who fit what we need. And we get to keep Rubio to help us off the bench.

Why for NOLA: 2 1st round picks, a project PG with a ton of potential, a better roster to tank with, and a clearer financial future from 2020 on.

Let's just go trade for AD. The Pels can have anyone they want who is not named Rudy Gobert, Donovan Mitchell, Joe Ingles.

Then we win all of the championships.

Both Holiday and Conley have "Jazz DNA" and would fit in soooooooo well with the locker room and personalities we have.

Switch Biyombo for Zeller and I think that's an intriguing trade.

One thing I hope doesn't happen... AD and Paul George were somewhat courageous in doing the trade request thing. So hopefully he doesn't get boo'd or treated like the villain.

Really does the franchise a solid and opens them up for criticism. Hayward to Boston I think was very much a done deal for 12 months, but he never bothered to tell us... even pre-free agency some notice would have helped.
