What's new

2020 NBA trade deadline discussion

Well this is what I fully expected to happen. And I'm still ****ing disappointed and pissed. What the ****?! Almost literally every other contender improved, a few substantially. We didn't do ****. **** me sideways.

I wish we were able to move dead weight like Davis or NWG. But also understand they suck and no smart team would want to take them unless they were getting some good compensation.

Tough pill to swallow is we won’t be flush with cash next year either. Clarkson is the only FA of value and losing him loses all of our bench scoring.

Why we are paying Davis $5M to ride pine I’ll never know. I would have jettisoned him for future seconds just to dump the salary.
Especially we all already know that Ed isn't much of security insurance and we'd rather have some g league players playing over him.

Shopping the clearance/scratch and dent while other teams suck it up and make the move to win.

Championships aren’t built on paper, but Clips are going to be a tough out and their bench unit will eat ours alive.

The west is definitely a two horse race between the LA teams. Looks like it's going to be another first or second round exit for the Jazz.

Ed sucks. Yes. But he's an "established" vet who could bring some experience to young teams like Memphis. There's a reason that DL chose him over Wood and Holmes the last summer.

That sounds like Ekpe and Bogut to me...

My god we are so damn passive at times.
Ekpe and Bogut would be aggressive. Don't hold your breath.

But temper your expectations. Signing one of those guys means waiving someone like NWG. It'd be foolish to draft a guy, wait two years, then finally bring him over and before you even get a chance to see him play or see what you've got, you waive him because you're being short-sighted. It'd be a huge shame to see him get picked up by another team and be a contributor and prove that we were right all along, and just gave up at the wrong time. That'd be foolish. Cataclysmically stupid. Ekpe and Bogut are out of the league for a reason. Why waive a guy who's currently in the league to pick up guys who aren't?

This site is toxic. None of yall better jump back on board when we do contend this year.

Bro, fans can be up when the team is doing great and fans and bag on them when they're not. It doesn't make you less of a fan to not like a crappy product.

I never understood the, "only true fans are positive fans" mentality.

Hey guys. I stepped away to play basketball for a couple hours, but I was able to just read the last few pages. Pretty disappointing to say the least.

I understand that maybe a deal wasn't there to be had, but I'm also not sure how Davis wasn't used at all in a trade. It's clear that he's on the out with us.

Disappointing, but I have faith we can turn it around. Still not buying Conley, but maybe the All Star Break could do us some good. Go Jazz

I would actually lump Denver in with having a fighting chance as well. And who knows, maybe this team will regain the magic, but beating bad teams and losing to good teams isn't a recipe for playoff success.

Dat Clippers bench though - Lou averages 19 PPG, Montrezl 19 PPG, Morris at 20 PPG, even Thomas at 12 PPG. Add in Shamet at 10 PPG and Green at 7 PPG and I just don't see how we can compete.

I am very curious about "all of the assets" that we gave up for Conley.

Crowder was a toss in on the Iguodala deal. Allen doesn’t play at all. We’re hurt that we traded picks that will be in the 20’s? The Clippers have traded picks years in the future there is nothing stopping us from doing that.

Please, enlighten me on who we could trade for with those assets who would be better than Conley.

I feel like you guys will complain about anything. Conley fits our timeline better than any other available player out there. Mitchell and Gobert are going to get paid and his contract comes off of the books at the same time.

Worst comes to worst we have the most valuable expiring contract in the league next year. I hate how Ingles has been put on a pedestal on this site because of his story and how he is an underdog. He’s just as much to blame for our problems as any player on the team. He has been playing very bad.
