2020 NBA trade deadline discussion

All knicks players should be viewed differently... I would trust their career numbers more than this years numbers because that team is a dysfunctional steaming pile of ****.

Randle-18M (expires in 2022)
Morris-15M (expiring)
Portis-15M (team option in 2020)
Gibson-9M (expires in 2021)
Payton-8M (expires in 2021)

Also fwiw, I proposed Conley and Exum for Horford and Neto to my buddy who’s a rabid Sixers fan and a smart one at that and he said it’s not far off and that they’d prob need Davis too. He thinks they need a true point guard who can shoot.

At least nobody has mentioned Kevin Love. The bar of this forum is obviously quite low, but nice to see that we still have some standards.

I know this is difficult and beyond our mold but we should trade Conley at the deadline, this experiment hasn't and will not work out.

Just thought I'd put this out there...Andy Larsen was a guest on Tony Jones most recent podcast and he said that Ingles can't be traded for 6 months because of the extension he signed before the season started, and I also read in an article today that he's ineligible to be traded until the offseason. So no need to include him in any hypothetical trades because unless Larsen and the guy that wrote the article are both wrong it's not possible for the Jazz to trade him at the deadline.

Ok, so no Ingles/Exum for Love. Good. I’d rather do Exum/Bradley for Morris anyway.

We’re not a contender. Unless you mean for the 5 seed.

Our top 6 players is good enough to be a contender. DM, Rudy, Bogey, Mike, Royce and Joe. The +/- of rotations involving 5 of those 6 is great. And that's despite Mike, Joe and Donovan all struggling at different points. They still consistently beat opposing starting 5's.

All we need is one or two more rotation pieces. I think Davis is fine at the backup 5. Our two biggest issues are 1) Niang is a massive net minus and that is made worse by Green being so damn inconsistent, and 2) Neither Mudiay or Exum seem to be the answer at backup PG because while both bring good things to the table (Mudiay- scoring ability, Exum- Defense) both also have severe limitations.

Ideally we would add a more complete backup PG (I wish could have kept Neto) and a backup 3/4 who is more versatile than Niang and more consistent than Green.

A big issue with our bench is that we have so many guys who only really provide one positive skill.

Niang is only a shooter
Green is only really a shooter
Davis rebounding/defense
Mudiay, scoring
Exum, defense

We need more versatility from the bench unit

Morris and Caruso were my final touches on the offseason of it weren’t for that Exum opportunity cost.
