2023 NBA Draft Megathread

Look I hate white guy to white guy comps... but Filipowski reminds me of Henry Ellenson.

He's big that doesn't shoot it, doesn't protect the rim, and might be a liability on the perimeter... definitely isn't a plus as a switchy big man. What does he do well that we want from an nba big? He's a late first early second round guy for me.
I disagree with all of this besides rim protection. He's going to shoot and hes way better on D than he gets credit for

I'd give him Olynyk potential. He's got a nice all-around game developing and he's still young. Ideally, he'd develop as a floor-spacing, playmaking 5. My only concern with him is that he's not quite long enough to guard the rim. Measurements are going to be key for him.

You can't disagree with the shooting it part fella... its a fact (in Perkins voice). Right now he does not shoot it. He may have shooting potential but right now its bad. There are much better bets in the top 25.

We already have KO though... and that is a meh ceiling. Late first or early second... if we take him with the Minny pick I'd gag.

there is no team in the league imo that would trade the 2 pick for 3 and 7, unless they didn't want Scoot Henderson. I know there is the assumption Miller or Amen could go there, but I don't think there is any chance Scoot isn't the #2 pick and an even less chance somone was able to trade up for him.
I think Indiana absolutely makes that deal.

GG Jackson is dropping Gs on Ole Miss, with several nice dunks and plays at the rim. Unfortunately, time may be running out for South Carolina. GG with 24pts and 5 rebs.

Thoughts on GG Jackson vs Taylor Hendricks (with our Minny pick)?

Who do you guys like more?

They're both very young. So far, GG is the more dynamic scorer with more self-creation potential. His appeal is his handle and fairly advanced body control for a player his size. GG is a raw 18 y.o. with high upside. If he hits, GG has All Star potential, imo. He's at a stage in his career where for the first time he's encountering some resistance and has to put in some work to get buckets. He's got a big learning and development curve ahead of him.

Taylor Hendricks is likely a safer pick, since he can step right into a complementary, 3D role. However, Hendricks looks like he'll need someone else to get him an open look or an open lane to score effectively. Hendricks also defends, which GG seems to do only some of the time.

In a vaccuum, I'd take GG because I really only care about upside. For the Jazz though, who may have a timeline they'd like to hit and who already have a big All Star scoring wing, I could see it going either way.

If Tay Henny is there with the Minny pick we need to sprint to the podium to take him. I think he’s way better than GG.

Yeah interesting takes, personality wise though would Hendricks fit our culture more if he's willing to play defense? Sounds more like a team first guy?

Also if GG has the edge on handle and creating, BUT our team is more about making cuts and running plays rather than having guys do iso's ... plus if ball handle is a skill one could get better at - does that neutralize GG's advantage?

GG has a lot of growing up to do… had some issues this year. Tay seems really mature and coachable. I think personality wise is Hendo by a landslide.
