2023 NBA Draft Megathread

He affects winning at a high level... that's the new measure of potential nba success... draft the eff out of him.
Yeah, cuz that's what I said. Obviously we are talking among NBA draft prospects, not Zach Edey. But keep being incredibly reductive because you arent bringing anything to this conversation.

If you dont think contributing to team success is a factor to consider then you arent being serious.

I do... but when someone says "there's an argument this guy did more for his team's success than any other freshmen" that's vague. its also not a super big factor because college and the nba are very different... its this type of thinking that leads you to have Udoka as the #3 prospect on your board...

If you like him great... you have your reasons but they are full of assumptions. I have my reasons to doubt him. I sure as hell wouldn't have him top 15.

Also, you dont have to be a great rim protecter to be a good NBA big. There's plenty of solid positional defenders who rebound and are considered good defenders. Santi Aldama and Bobby Portis are two of those dudes who come to mind. Maybe Flip doesnt live up to his potential as a great player who can use all his abilities, but I see him at minimum being a floor spacing threat who can rebound and be versatile on the defensive end with how hard he plays. He isnt just a soft big.

Are you ok? You’re saying some weird stuff today. Unlike you.
I'm feeling great. Just because we disagree on a draft prospect and you can't handle me spitting facts doesn't mean I am being "weird".

You compared a four year Tyler Zeller who shot 2 total threes to a freshman Filipowski. Cy then made a point about him being a freshman and affecting winning. Then you replied to that by saying we should draft Zach Edey then who is a junior… hardly spitting facts.

How is that vague? Go through all the freshman and think about it. Brandon Miller is the only guy really in the equation, but his team is great all around him with a lot of experience. And I have no idea how this relates to KOC having boners for athletic hulking senior big men

Being the man and not having your team crater shows me something as an evaluator, especially when it's Duke.

That's fine... if you are drafting end of the first... in the lotto I'm not looking to land the next Santi Aldama.

its vague because there is nothing to base it off of than advanced stats (you presented none) and your own opinion.

Its not super relevant because the things that work and are effective in college don't translate across.

I presented a 3 point percentage to show a guy was not a good shooter and you literally said a one game sample proves that he is a good shooter... but yeah I'm being weird.

I provided a **** ton of relevant comps (some freshmen) and yall are like nah... he so unique... there are no comps. I also did not comp him to Tyler Zeller... I merely presented a dude who put up huge numbers in college to show huge numbers aren't the end all be all... this was in response to you saying I was being "disrespectful"

Sorry... I'm not going to agree with you all the time bud... doesn't mean I'm being weird.

I'm out on this convo... I've said my piece. I would not want to draft Flip... apologies to any that this offends. I don't think his game translates.

I probably wouldnt draft Flip with the Jazz's first two picks either, just because the guys in that range are very close and need/positional availability does take some priority. At the Sixers pick he'd be an absolute steal though.

So you really don't believe your draft board then.

No, I do, but I think fit and available minutes matter, especially when the rankings are close. My prospect rankings aren't viewed through a Jazz specific lense. Just who I think is going to succeed in the NBA.
fit and minutes won't be a problem exclusive to the Jazz with regard to Kyle. Its absolutely part of the reason I have him lower.
