2023 NBA Draft Megathread

If Lauri drags this team into the playoffs he is a top 10 player and I am fine with it.
He’s just bonkers. I keep waiting for him to slow down or regress and he adds more. Last night he was just so clearly the best player in the floor and had just extra layers of confidence to him.

If he adds to this and gets some help… holy hell.

I doubt he enters this year, but Dillon Jones from Weber State would be a fun 2nd round/UDFA type. 6’6 230, often plays point forward for Weber. Not consistent from 3, but has a great FT stroke so I’d imagine with time he’ll get there. One of the best rebounders I’ve seen. Just has a knack for it. Really physical player, he’s a lot of fun to watch. I’d imagine he ends up on the Stars at some point just because of the local ties.

Averaging 17/11/4 on 46/30/81.

I like to imagine him in the Karl Malone role on the late 90's Jazz. Get him an all time great distributor, commit to running the offense through him and get the Hell out of his way.

He’d score 40 a game

There is absolutely no reason to doubt Lauri. He clearly isn't tanking. The jazz, yes maybe, Lauri and the guys, no.
right I do understand the concept of tanking is an organizational thing, and mostly only that trickles down to the coaches , I mean sure for the most part no starter let alone all star is going to help a tank unless you bench him hence my point. The Jazz players stand to be demoted if better players are drafted so yeah they need to be forced to lose which is why tanking in itself is bad for any team that has plans for the current players beyond that season.
The Jazz are not tanking they never were. But the occasional insertion of g league two way players and 10 day contract players can be considerred a org move to tank a little without upsetting the likes of the Finnisher.imo because they are telling him its all about getting Sexton healthy and about building up the bench for a playoff run.
I don't think the Finnisher is that gullible, but he has to know they cannot beat anyone in a series after all they gave up at the deadline , not anyone at the top of the West anyway.
the goal for the Finnisher is the same as the coach and all the players, of course they want to win. The org not so much now imo.

Just looking at the list of bigs with >20% usage....I kinda see Bagley with much worse athleticism/rim finishing but way better effort. Shooting? We'll see. I kinda see them in the same role and maybe a similar overall end product with different ways of getting there. Bagley/Hartenstein would be my comp and I do deserve credit because that's only 25% white comparison lol.

Plus usage bigs just aren't that common, and I do not see that as a positive in the same way that 7'5 shooting C's with handles are uncommon.
Athleticism and finishing are Bagley's calling card though. Take these away you get basically any bigs... Like saying I'm basically Klay without shooting or Kyrie without the crazy handle

I think Jarace Walker is getting overrated. I have him at 9th on my big board. I’ve seen him in the top-5 and top-6 on a lot of boards. Too high to me.
i tend to agree with this. but i'm getting to the point where i don't like anybody in that 4-7 range. a bunch of dudes i have serious concerns about - it's one reason that if the jazz can't get into the top 3, i'm fine picking 8 or 9.

I know what you mean it’s kind of hard to differentiate between them.

Yet again.

I’m not mega high on Walker overall but I don’t have him lower than like 10 most of the time. Such a weird mix from that 4-15ish range I’d even say.

Overrated:
Jarace Walker
Taylor Hendricks

Underrated:
Anthony Black
Kyle Filipowski
Leonard Miller
Sidy Cissoko

It’s why I joined the church of Tay Henny. He has some pretty bankable skills and some room for growth. I’m not quite a believer in Walkers creation or jumper… I think defensively he’s superior but it’s a small margin.

I think the top 6 end up being Vic, Scoot, Miller, Amen, Cam, Ausar… Ausar is the one I’m less convinced on… I can see Walker taking his spot… I think fit for us isn’t as good so have been less interested in him.

Weird… but good… I think.

Most mock drafts seem to think Jarace Walker goes ahead of Cam Whitmore. I'm not sure that's very likely, tbh. His production and efficiency have been pretty meh going back the past few weeks. His FT shooting hasn't improved.

He's 1/6 today for 5 pts., with 3/6 on FTAs. That's against East Carolina.

Not sure where you have Hendo's stock pegged but I think its perfectly appropriate to have him in the 10-15 range where he lands on most media outlet's draft boards. In the 6-9 range I'd have a hard time passing on him, but that's probably a pretty hot take.
