2023 NBA Draft Megathread

I give up. Hardy says each player has a super power. I think Sensabaugh shooting/scoring is better than Dick's and I think the Development coaches can help him be an average defender. Plus the NBA ready body and rebounding is a big plus to work with Lauri. I would rather have that than Black or Dick or a smallish guard.

I think Sensabaugh could contribute right away unlike all these other prospects except Wallace.

Sensabaugh is a good long-term prospect, but I don't think he'll play much until he commits to being at least a positional defender. No doubt, he's really intriguing for a 19 y.o.

I have a lot more faith in Wallace developing into a good 3PT shooter than Black. That along with Wallace’s defense has Wallace ranked higher than Black on my personal big board.
It’s not all that close to me. Black is goofy but I see the upside, whereas I am quite confident Wallace is gonna be in the league for a long time as a floor. I don’t dare speak what I think his upside can be, but an elite perimeter defender, good (and ever-improving) shooter, and decent point that doesn’t need to dominate the ball seems entirely within reach.

Such a player would be legit championship piece given the right (higher) talent elsewhere in the rotation.

I keep watching Cason, and I just don't think he's all that special at the next level. First of all, he's likely going to measure out around 6'2" w/o shoes and with a 6'6" wingspan. He's not an overwhelming athlete. He doesn't show much change of speed or direction. His shooting projects to be pretty average, maybe slightly above. His reads and timing are pretty basic at this stage. He defends the ball. He's cagey and he plays hard. I'm not sure he should play on the ball full time.

With Cason, you're betting that his defensive disruptiveness is going to translate to NBA speed and spacing, and maybe you're believing that UK made him sacrifice some of his game. He'll be a solid enough player. He'll be rotational. He doesn't scream top-10 pick for me.

If we look just at the offensive side, Kobe Bufkin should be equally as good a prospect, or a bit better, imo.

I'm buying the UK guard thing with Cason. Id draft both him and Bufkin tbh

Anyone know what happened to Keyonte George? He’s been dropping in mock drafts…
Yeah cuz he got worse as time went on which is sub-optimal.

I honestly don’t know what I think about him but the *numbers* say he’s a chucker.

Gradey Dick playmaking highlights start at 8:08. The passing is fine, and he has the size and vision to pass over the defense, which I like. He'd need to tighten his handle a bit and work on his dribble combinations to play on the ball with significant usage, imo. Gradey's size/length as a passer would be a nice complement to our bigs slashing and rolling to the rim (similar to Hayward/Ingles playing with Gobert).

right on lol Wallace is severely overrated imo. if he was not happy there, and his game was being dumbed down, fine I will eat crow if he proves me wrong. But as is, there is not enough evidence toi suggest he is even a point guard in the same way many struggle to say Sexton is one. Fans of him jump all over any scrutiny of his defense but I don't see it transfer much at all, when what it is he is doing is only based on mismatches against smallish guards he gets gifted to defend. He is never going to be the guy you put on the best offensive player on the other team, never.
I am not sold on Bufkin either, outside of a poor man's Tre Mann with a very similar slight build. I mean at that point if you are drafting a smallish guard I am taking NSJ

Welp, we're back to Gradey Dick, Cason Wallace or Keyonte George. Enjoy! Maybe the league will reward Utah for being plucky all season. The Spurs were egregious.

I like dick and wallace at least. Really hoping hendo is still there though

Wallace, Black, Hendricks... or whoever falls. I'm good with any of them. I don't embrace that idea... I make love to it.

It might be nuts but I feel pretty solid at pg with Dunn/THT/Rookie X sprinkle in some Sexton for flavor. We will be fine I think.

Could cam fall to 10?

THT's below average efficiency is really damaging. He needs to get better or at least average in that area.

He probably will get better. And because he is so good attacking the rim he will get to the line a lot which makes up for some of the inefficiency
