2023 NBA Draft Megathread

On my last tier list I had Brice in a tier that spans prospects 14-19. Not much has changed on my list, I'd probably have one more prospect to make it a 14-20 tier. So he's definitely in play for me at #16, but with 13 in higher tiers ahead of him I wouldn't take him at #9.

My updated tier would be something like this. These are the guys I would consider at 16.

Tier 5
14. Jordan Hawkins
15. Noah Clowney
16. Kobe Bufkin
17. Sidy Cissoko
18. Brice Sensabaugh
19. Dariq Whitehead
20. Jett Howard

Danny Ainge now admitting that his numeric evaluation of players wouldn't have picked out Jayson Tatum or Jaylen Brown as elite prospects.

Random Dick fact.....He was actually better shooting off the dribble than catch and shoot at Kansas. IIRC, he had a crazy weird shot chart where he was godly from above the break and not very good from the corners. Usually players are better in catch and shoot situations and from the corners. I've been one to mention how his overall shooting numbers are great, but don't stand out among a group of other good shooters in this draft. He was really great at making the more difficult shots. If he made the easy ones, his shooting would have been bonkers.

Just praying for a Hendricks, Brice, Bilal grand slam this draft...

I am dreaming about this 5 out lineup...it has to come true - the most potent offense in the NBA 2023/2024 season...

Bilal or Dunn
Ochai or Dunn
Brice
Hendricks
Markannen
YES!! THIS IS WHAT WE WANT!!!! HE GETS IT. NOT PEOPLE THAT WANT ANOTHER ****** CENTER IN GG JACKSON

Thought that popped into my head… I wonder if we stay at 9 and OKC stays at 12… would you trade back to 12 to get our pick back that they own. Maybe they love Dick or maybe Hendricks is there and they love him. Might have a chance to still grab Wallace or Hawkins and then We don’t have the obligation hanging over our season.

I would secure Bilal at #9, but if that's important a trade back is reasonable. I just don't think Ainge gets cute in tradeback scenarios if he likes someone. There was a 100% chance he would still get Tatum when he traded back. If there was a 95% chance he might not have done it.

Only if we know one of the mostly-consensus top-11 guys is still there (most likely Wallace, Dick, and/or Black). And if we know that but are not terribly preferential of one over another then that would be a great trade.

But we’re not talking about mediocre.
Sure, but there's nothing there that suggest he shouldnt at least be able to get to mediocre status. I think maybe we are taking a snapshot of where he was bad on D to start the season and maybe not being holistic for how his D improved throughout the season.

I think there is a lot there to suggest that. He was terrible and lost on defense in the NCAA. And he might have red-flag knees which put a ceiling on his ability to react, close out, and contest in the sudden and explosive way that modern NBA defense is played.

He would have to be bonkers good pretty much out of the gate to justify the pick and #9 is not the place to make such a long-odds bet where the alternative is a guy that can’t even get on the floor because of catastrophic flaws.

I am coming around to the possibility of him at #16. No way in hell you take him with some of the dudes that are still going to be on the board there and with strong odds he’s still there at #16 (and if he’s not, that is terrific).

So this is the chart I'm referencing. Not the whole season, but this is freaking crazy. God mode 50+% from above the break and a crappy 25% from the corners. It's insanity. For reference, in the NBA this season above the break was 35% and 38% from the corners. If I had to pick, I would definitely bet on the guy making the tough ones and hope he makes the easy ones than vice versa.
