2023 NBA Draft Megathread

I've been watching a bunch of Gradey Dick highlights today since we just brought him in for a workout and he is a better overall offensive player than I thought. He has enough off the dribble game that he can make people pay when they close out on him and he is really tricky finishing around the rim. The gravity that he brings to the court because of his shooting is going to make the game easier for everyone because you can't sag off him without paying the price which could really open up the paint even more for Sexton and THT. Put him out there in a lineup with Lauri, Olynyk, Ochai and Sexton and the paint should be wide open for guys to attack.

Okay but you talk about his lack of attempts like it’s a matter of dumb misfortune rather than a reflection that he didn’t warrant contact in the paint. You of all people should find that concerning since you harped about Mitchell’s poor FTR as a rookie and basically relegated Dejounte Murray as trash because he doesn’t get to the stripe (despite being productive, Lauri’s age, big for his position, otherwise has no serious holes in his game, and likely available in some fashion in the next year).
Yes,I think foul drawing is his biggest issue and possibly something that may never be good.

The reason in the homer thread I am going with gradey Dick is because I think he is the safest pick in the draft.

I also think he would be an instant contrubuter with the jazz. Eventually his shooting is going to create a lot of gravity opening up Lauri's game even more.

With his shooting I think he would also make a guy like JHS even more productive.

JHS and Dick would be a great draft at 9/16. Could see either dropping to 16, but it would be a tough call on both to for sure be there.

Gonna ignore the last sentence (lol), but I think Gradey has some ball skills that he can develop that would change the conversation.

Interesting tidbits from Givony/Woo:

Jarace’s ceiling is 5 to Detroit and he has interest all over the top-10.

Black’s range is 6-12 with some arguments out there for him to go as high as 4.

Bilal’s range starts around 11 and runs through the late teens.

NSJ was projected as a top-5 pick to start the season for a reason and Givony is bullish on him long-term.

JHS stock is booming and he could go several spots higher than 14.
Hoping we can get Bilal at 16 (though I want hawkins there I would be happy with the potential of Bilal)

I think we’d have to throw in SOMETHING. I keep coming back to Dunn and/or Ochai as places to level out trades because in this case Dallas has to get some basketball value from tanking so egregious that the league is investigating them. If only to save face.
Give em THT AND Gay. Im feeling generous

Ya I wouldn't mind taking him at 9. Not what I want but i would be fine with it. Really only a couple guys I would be mad if we took at 9 (NSJ, JHS come to mind)

I have no source but based on all the talk I think the Jazz end up with the 10 and 12 and 28 and their 2024 pick back. And then the Jazz go wing then Cason at 12.
