2023 NBA Draft Megathread

Maybe it's just that time of the year where we are picking apart prospects too much, but I am souring on the idea of trading up for anyone....Cam, Twins, Jarace, Black, Hendricks, I'm fine just taking whoever falls tbh. We take whoever falls out of that group or Bilal/Dick, then take a PG at #16. Feels unsatisfying to take the leftovers at each tier, but that might be how this draft plays out.
I'm kinda with you here.

Here...

1. Spurs - Wemby
2. Hornets - Miller
3. Portland - Scoot
4. Rockets - Anthony Black
5. Jazz(via Detroit trade) - Amen
6. Orlando - Ausar
7. Pacers - Walker
8. Wizards - Hendricks
9. Detroit(via Jazz trade) - Dick
10. Net(via Mavs trade) - Bufkin
11. Orlando - L.Miller
12. OKC - Lively II
13. Raptors - Keyonte George
14. NOP - Wallace
15. Atlanta - Hawkins
16. Detroit(via Jazz trade) - Kris Murray
...
28. Jazz - GG Jackson

It gives us less chances at getting a quality player in the draft, but i love the swing for the fences attitude. I would totally make that trade (9 and 16 for 5) for Amen, Ausar, or Cam.

I think we should take cam Whitmore at 28 instead of GG since he apparently falls to the second round in this mock ;)

Assuming we don't trade here. For #9 I'd want whoever falls to us among Ausar, Cam, Hendrix, Walker, Black. For #16 I'm hoping for any of Wallace, George, Bufkin, JHS, Hawkins, or Leonard Miller. For #28, I'm hoping Whitehead falls to there due to two foot surgeries, but that is unlikely and realistically hope for GG, Sasser, Maxwell Lewis, Colby Jones, or Podz. I also want at least one of our first two picks to be a guard.

Mostly realistic wish: #9 Ausar, #16 Wallace or Hawkins, #28 GG

I mean it is Masai… still seems like a lot but Houston sounds like they trying to go full stupid this offseason.
I don't think it's that much. Green and KPJ are big question marks to how quality they are. If I liked Houston surrounding pieces better it would make more sense (assuming the Harden thing is real and your core is Harden/Pascal/Smith/Sengun)

I don’t think it’s that much either but Siakam is on an expiring contract. They would need an extension in place first but it’s not crazy to me.

That’s the issue. I don’t think I will love Pascal’s next contract either. I’m not a big Green fan KP is just contract fodder, #4 is a pretty good asset. I just think Houston is gonna do dumb stuff this summer. Having no incentive to tank next year and a **** ton of cap space in a rough FA market… with that owner… have fun Rockets fans.

Really need Taylor Midricks to impress teams above Utah so Walker/Black/JHS are the options Ainge has to choose from
Lol JHS will be there at 9… and 16. So much hate. I do think you will get your wish though. I would be Taylor goes top 8. Walker/Ausar/Black are the guys that could fall to #9. Small chance two of them are there if Wallace got a promise at 8.

siakam just isn't that special. mediocre efficiency is his biggest problem and the main reason he doesn't move the needle on winning (also, very average defensively) despite the fact he puts up numbers. he was surround by a **** ton of talent in toronto and couldn't even make the playoffs. he's a guy you overpay for and regret it later.

Siakim is incredible imo. Toronto's team construction was ***. His 2nd best player was a 6' tall guard who doesn't even make 40% of his shots. Last time in the playoffs he was giving Joel Embiid the business despite having to play out of position because Toronto was one of those dumb teams who decided to test if true bigs weren't important.
