2023 NBA Draft Megathread

siakam just isn't that special. mediocre efficiency is his biggest problem and the main reason he doesn't move the needle on winning (also, very average defensively) despite the fact he puts up numbers. he was surround by a **** ton of talent in toronto and couldn't even make the playoffs. he's a guy you overpay for and regret it later.
I think he's in the Bradley Beal tier of all-stars. On a regular max I think its good... Aging and on a bigger max I think that deal will have some ugly years.

I think there are some fit issues with his game. In the right situation though I like him. Portland with Dame should be the acquirer... in Houston with Harden might be fine for a year or two. In Utah I don't have a ton of interest. Timeline, fit, price, etc.

Seriously...WTF is he talking abou
"all utah has for sure on their roster is walker kessler"

huh?
I can only think he meant the center position is the only one that’s set with Kessler since that’s the only position he can play. Lauri can play the 3 or 4 so there’s some flexibility with who you would draft to put next to him. He did mention Lauri.
Still, that Siakam to Houston trade is awful.

I don't know if Whitehead lasts until 28... I can see Indiana, Charlotte, taking him... I think he's kinda the perfect solution for the "we don't want to find playing time for three rookies" issue. I think Brooklyn at 21 is the spot to get to if you want to take him. Locke did a 28 for Mills and 21 in his mock draft but there are like 3-4 iterations of deals we could do with them to get to that spot.

Not sexy but if we could land Whitehead with 21 I'd do one of those deals and treat the year like a rehab, redshirt year.

when i look at my perfect draft at 9, 16 and 28, i come away only sad they don't get a shot at DWH. too much talent at 16 and won't last until 28. so yeah, if they could get to 21 and land whitehead, i'd be all for that.

We have also done deals with them... so we play nice there... I think its a pretty cheap way for them to duck the tax.

THT (he opts in) and 28 for Harris and 21
28 for 21 and Mills

I think those are the most likely versions of a deal. KO could be subbed in for THT possibly. THT would opt in for this scenario and end up in a good situation where they need some creation/ballhandling.

Dick, JHS, Klintman.

Elite elite draft
This is an absolute nightmare. My fandom would take a catastrophic hit. At the same time, I think there is less than 1% chance of this happening, and it won't be because those players have already been taken.

In a vacuum I would not hate it... but understanding we could have gone with Hendricks, Bufkin, Whitehead (fine with Klintman but would take a flier on Whitehead first) would make me real sad.

It’s not even bad and regardless of who we take we will find a way to hype them up as the best prospect available anyways. That includes NSJ, did you know he was a top-5 prospect entering his freshman season?

FWIW I would be ok with taking JHS at 16. He's not my favorite prospect, but I get the appeal. I think he has a pretty advanced feel for the game that will overcome some of his other shortcomings. I could see him being a pretty great pnr ball handler, and I think he can be coached out of being so mid range dependent. I've heard some of his interviews on local radio shows and he seems like a smart good kid, he is very confident, but I think in a good way.

Jett Howard seems lower on draft boards than he should be... he got the early hype and just kinda kept sliding. I get the warts but prolly should be getting more love.

If you aren’t all the way in on Black there is still time.

There are enough reports of this type of stuff to buy into Black being an A+ teammate and worker. All of these guys require some level of "gamble"... you just feel better betting on guys that are about the right things. Would be happy with Anthony at #9.
