2023 NBA Draft Megathread

I have always said about pickup games that if the opponent is wearing sweatpants, then he is not real competition.

However, I really like Cam.
I don’t honestly care what Jarace wears… just trying to do my best impression of an irrational hater.

But yes… if the guy showing up to pickup wears pants or jorts… he’s on your team boss.

I wonder if he could have a similar impact as Kessler and end up on an all rookie team. He doesn't have nearly the offensive touch or instincts as Kessler, but he's a more explosive dunker/rim protector. He really looked good towards the end of the year.

He might be a more explosive rim protector but i doubt he is a better rim protector than kessler.

I’m pretty bored at this point and ready for the draft to be over with.
Every time I’m ready to check out for a week some random rumor sucks me back in for a few days. I’m ready to start the draft… it’s go time.

I’ve been cautious about the idea of using picks to trade up in this draft, but I’m starting to settle into trading #28 to Washington to move up one spot. Seems like 8/9 could be a big swing spot in the draft and it would be a bummer to see Ausar or Hendricks go off the board there.

I think getting back into the late 1st/early 2nd is doable. Charlotte own FOUR picks 27-41 (one of them being our 2nd) and the Pacers have three picks 26-32 (plus another at 55).

Like could THT opt-in early and we trade him for one of the Pacers later picks?

You’re not a Blacks fan?

I am not.

But even if I was, he could easily go 8th. In fact, I think that’s most likely his landing spot as it is. But even if that was Washington’s planned pick, if Ausar falls to 8, Washington might scrap that plan and just take Ausar. I think Ausar is getting lost in the shuffle a bit and could be the guy that pops.

So I’m now finally taking a deeper dive into the players projected later in the draft and some are started to jump out to me. I think there are guys worth drafting and just seeing if it works. As already mentioned, there are a couple of teams like Charlotte and Indiana that might rather do something other than draft four guys in the later part of the draft.

Jalen Picket is interesting to me. Isaiah Wong might be there at 55 (the Pacers 5th pick this year). Judah Mintz might go undrafted. AJJ could be a lot of fun if the Jazz really devote themselves to spacing bigs besides Kessler.

Some interesting players out there.

I could be way off about this, but I'm also not sure that Brandon Miller is worth a #2 pick. I think he'll be solid, but not sure he is going to be special. So if I'm a team that already has a point guard, so not taking Scoot, I think there is some logic for trading the #2 pick.
won't happen. nba teams understand how special brandon miller is. it's why he's going to be the #2 overall pick

“Oh, the more well-rounded Thompson twin that doesn’t need the ball in his hands and doesn’t have as many highlights despite producing at a similar level and strangely has the same assist numbers? BOR-ING.”
I think Ausar/Walker/Black are the most likely guys to be there at 9. I think Portland ends up sliding back to 6 and takes Black. Maybe they do the Ingram deal instead but the Carter Jr., 6, 11 for 3, 23, Nurkic deal seems pretty fair to me. Portland then uses 11 to pursue other deals. Just feels like Portland needs a few pieces not just one big one.

I’m going to go ahead and book Hendricks to Indiana at 7… feels like a lock. 8 is a wild card but I think they also look pg and not sure a new GM wants to get too wild for his first pick… so could see Thompson sliding. I just think the nba GMs get a little risk averse on draft night and those guys are coming in from a new route and will likely get dinged because of it.

and literally everybody knows length and athleticism is what all nba teams look for. he said nothing. but in fairness to him, he doesn't know **** either. i just wish he'd be up front about it rather than pretending.
He does get a lot of insider intels we mortals don’t though.

Does Portland trade Dame in this scenario?
