2023 NBA Draft Megathread

Edwards from the athletic is saying the pistons really like Hendricks & Ausar. Could be smoke but that could be one possible trade-up opportunity for us if we want Cam

"[Edwards] Im hearing the Pistons will be strongly considering 5 prospects if they stay put at No. 5: Amen and Ausar Thompson, Cam Whitmore, Jarace Walker & Taylor Hendricks. Hendricks, in particular, impressed in front of Pistons execs & coaches. Ausar also has some big supporters in the Pistons’ FO"

I just think whatever upside he has is rooted in energy big who rebounds/hustle/gets easy baskets, not a 3pt shot or creating half-court offense.
It’s all basketball. And I’d rather a guy be able to get on the floor playing big ball and working in perimeter skills than a big awkward guard that can’t get on the floor.

He can string a few good dribbles together and he was great finishing around the basket. At his size and athleticism that could end up being a 20 ppg guy at some point. Playing hard is a skill and guys that size that play hard help you win. If the others stuff works then watch teh eff out.

Hendricks makes too much sense for the Pistons IMO. I'm not a Hendricks guy, but he fits the team to a T. If they love him it's probably too risky for them to trade back w/ Utah because he could go anywhere 6-8, but maybe it's something that could happen.

Yeah, I think he is valuable in the open court as a floor running big who can lead a break off a rebound. That's what separates him a bit from the generic 3rd big he profiles as (to me).

If he's just Vando but he's good at finishing around the basket and can actually hold up on defense around the basket then that's a hell of a player.

It was never the shooting with Vando that bugged me... it was that he couldn't finish and bigs went right through him.

I wonder if deals ever happen where, say, the Jazz work with the Pistons and say something to the effect of “hey, if you’re sixes on Cam and Hendricks, we’ll send ______ and Hendricks if we get him if you wanna grab Cam and send him our way.”

Taylor going to the Pistons would start some chaos that could benefit us. If they take Cam and Hendricks falls to us I think we could then swing a trade with them.... they'd have to be comfortable keeping whoever they took and maybe missing out on Hendricks.

Great minds... I'm sure this type of stuff does happen.

Also... those assholes owe us.

True. I'm not big on Hendricks either, so if they take him at 5 then a better prospect imo falls to us at 9 for free. 4-10 is going to be entertaining on Thurs

Well them taking Hendricks at 5 wouldnt greatly change anything.

If the reports are to be believed, there is a general top 8 or 9 and unless someone outside of that is taken in the top 8/9, things will stay mostly the same.

It would change who drops to us though.
