What's new

2023 NBA Free Agency Thread

If I'm Portland and can get off Dame's contract at his age and health concerns, I'm turning backflips. Especially if they get a good package for him.

WTF is all this cap coming from in LA? I haven’t looked at it but it seems they should be waaaay over the tax. What’s the logistics of them matching Reaves? If they’ll match anything then it’s time to screw those assholes over.
Just retaining their own dudes and using cap exceptions for Vincent and Prince.

Legally Portland is on the hook for the full amount to Grant.
Not sure this is true. This is the “moratorium” period. To my knowledge no deal can be officially offered until July 6th. This week is a negotiating period.

It would look really bad for them as an organization, but I don’t think they are legally committed to anything. I also wonder if this news changes Grant’s interest in staying in Portland. Probably not, but does likely mean he’ll spend the rest of his prime in a rebuilding situation (again).

Nah I get that… what’s their bill up to now?
what diff does that make? they already offerred him as much as they could, and we could easily outbid them if we wanted had we not traded for Collins smh
Danny is getting old imo lost a few marbles somewhere

They have 10 players under contract and are still about 17M under the luxury tax.
That’s crazy. I was under the impression they were close to the tax and probably wouldn’t be matching on Rui let alone bringing back DLo. They’ve done all of the above and then some.

I fixed it I forgot about their draft pick JHS. They have 11 players under contract with about 13M away from the tax.

I think the verbal agreement is binding. I think they’d be in trouble unless he got arrested or failed a physical…

I do imagine him putting pen to paper then immediately turning to the GM and saying… I’d like to formally request a trade to a contender… thank you.

The Reaves contract will only count like 15M on their cap sheet too.. even though it could go to 4/98.
