2024-25 Trade Rumors Thread

The galactic brain move: instead of resigning your own good player let them walk and sign with another team (and use his money on signing Svi whom we do not play at all) - and THEN trade for him.

I think the 31 First Rounder is the important part of that deal.

Kings trade would need to be Huerter+Lyles+something for Collins. Then we likely redirect Huerter somewhere else.

I think the Kings are a potentially perfect partner. Desperation + bad franchise + lack of depth + flawed build + aging star making star money on longterm deal = gold unprotected pick.

Who is another Julius Randle type player (a productive “good” player that actually makes your team worse) we could facilitate to the Wolves that could get us our 2nd back? Unfortunately, the Wolves already know more than any other organization how big of a loser DLo is.

They aren't giving up an unprotected pick.

If they ain’t giving a lightly-protected pick then I don’t know what the point is. We already basically have too much quantity of picks.

A single lightly protected pick for a near-20/10 50/40/90 sounds fair to me. I’m also not dying to get rid of Collins.

Carter or no deal

Then what you're landing on is no trade, which is fine. Just because we want a super valuable pick does not mean we will receive it through trade. The reality of the situation is that we're likely deciding between undesirable picks or keeping the vets (and hurting the tank). Same situation as year's past.

I wonder if the Mavs would want Clarkson. They could use a better 3rd creator off the bench than DinWiddie. Kleber for Clarkson works straight up. Kleber is having an awful year. Maybe swap the Cavs pick and Mavs pick?
