2024-25 Trade Rumors Thread

It's a slow day so what about this hypothetical deal?

Apparently the Hawks might be another potential Kessler destination (according to their fans so it's probably just wishful thinking on their part). Kessler, like Sexton, was born and raised in the Atlanta area. The Hawks need to find a younger replacement for Capela. Okongwu is fine as a backup but not big enough to play the position full time especially when they have Trae in their backcourt who doesn't do defense.

Would you guys take their '25 unprotected Laker pick for Kessler? That pick was the crown jewel of the Dejounte deal they acquired from Pels. The Lakers have fallen into play in territory and the wheels look like they could fall off for Lebron at any minute. It could potentially mean another lottery ticket for Flagg. I have no idea if the Hawks would offer it but they already have quality young starters at every other position in Trae, Daniels, J Johnson, and Rissacher.

Let me just say this

Phoenix is an unbelievably ****** place and I think by 2031 Utah will be a better FA destination (if we can stop growing Kentucky Bluegrass and Alfalfa en route to drying up the Great Salt Lake you absolute ****ing lunatics).
Phoenix is awesome during the basketball season. Growing city and I'm sure the night life will always exceed SLC's. The mountains are cool but young NBA players don't love hiking that much lol.

The Lakers are beyond repair unless they want to push all their trade assets in. Collins or Sexton aren't fixing their issues. They will certainly fall under the Wolves
JJ's act was always going to wear thin too. I think he is very smart but he is very smart in a way that he needs you to know how very smart he is all the time. A coach wasn't going to be the solution. Lebron is just really trying to hang on to whatever glory he can while kinda concealing the fact that this team is much more a cute story than contender. I think Kessler would help them alot. Sexton too... but they are more likely to be a play in team than the wolves and its not super close to me.

If you want to move Walker I want a decent pick along with a prospect. Think Indiana for Jarace Walker and a pick. He has played so much better that yesterday's price is not today's price.

I don’t hate it. I’m just kinda holding on Kessler unless something blows me away.

The order of stuff we should keep while tanking:
-Lauri
-Walker
-Collin
- John

Everything else either is a prospect that helps us lose or stuff we can move… Juzang might be the exception. Maybe he’s 5th on the list.

Where's Flip?
any guys drafted the last two years are keepers as they don't hurt us with regard to winning/losing. Not really considering their trade value. So they are kind of just off the table.

I think they will go for Shroeder first, but the Magic need some bench scoring the worst way. Black produces nothing on offense and Anthony/Howard stink.

With the Hawks looking like a bonafide playoff team in the bad East, the Hawks 1st rounder (which the Spurs own), is losing some value. At one point people thought it might be a late lottery ticket, but now it's looking like a late teens/early 20's pick. So I wonder if they would be open to trading for Sexton with the Hawks pick.

If Houston didnt have FVV, I think Sexton would make a lot of sense there too. It's crazy looking at their team with how bad everyone is shooting it and how good the team is performing.

For a rebuilding team to deal away young players who are still on rookie contracts and already producing for you at a high level, it's a perfect recipe for disaster that sets your franchise back for years and guarantee you won't ever get out of rebuild. Just ask the Kings that moved Isaiah Thomas, Sixers that dealt Jrue Holiday, Detroit that let Middleton go, we can go on and on and on. We already made the mistake once with Ochai. We can't make that same mistake again. That's why we need to prioritize trading JC, Sexton, Collins over Walker, who we still have years of control and will be there when we start to compete again.

Houston is great on defense and below average on offense, which makes them the perfect trade target for JC and Sexton. They need offense and they need it bad. They also have loads of picks and talented young players like Whitmore and Sheppard that don't see enough minutes just because of how stacked they are. They can consolidate those assets and be on of the major players in the market. There were talks that they wanted Giannis but I simply don't see it happening. If they fail to acquire a big name guy by trade deadline, I can see them going for Sexton or Collins as plan B.

We got to stop pretending that Clarkson has positive value for a team wanting offense

Yeah that's why I said it in the end it's more for Sexton/Collins than it is for JC. But I can see some contending teams that want Clarkson because of his name recognition and they can't afford better players

Orlando just lost Franz Wagner to a torn oblique which is the same injury Banchero suffered. I would think they need to make some kind of move as they don't have much offense on the roster after those two.
